The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!
Starting this year, Lynn is giving us free rein to use whatever book we like to compare covers. I’ll be adding the title of the book to my post title so you can see what book I’ll be comparing! Easy, right? Today we’re looking at Blake Crouch’s Upgrade, which I read last year and had a lot of fun with. I found six different covers, so let’s take a look:
U.S. edition 2021 | UK edition 2022
Arabic edition 2022 | Persian #1 edition 2022
Hungarian edition 2022 | Persian #2 edition 2022
Well, there are some interesting covers! Not sure what’s going on with the Arabic edition. For me, it’s a toss-up between the U.S. and the Hungarian editions.
Yes, I was also curious about the Arabic cover but not having read the book yet I wasn’t sure if it fit or not. I like the US and Hungarian covers, possibly the Hungarian slightly more. It has an ominous feel.
Lynn 😀
That cover is so weird. I’m trying to remember if there’s a bee in the story, lol.
I really like several of these editions. My favorites are the US, UK and Hungarian ones!

I agree, lots of good covers here:-)
Those are all pretty cool. Aside from the US one I also like the Persian one as well.
I like the Persian one too, it’s very different.
I really like the US version best — but maybe that’s just because that’s the one I read!
Me too, it’s familiar because I read it. Plus it’s so different from the others.
I really like the UK edition. Nice and shiny. 🙂
It does look shiny!
I would say the UK edition is my favorite!
I like that one too:-)
I can’t pick which I like the most. All of them look cool.

It’s a good variety, right?
What a good choice of book, Tammy:)). My favourites are the UK edition and Persian #1. What the Arabian edition is trying to achieve I haven’t a clue, but if I were Blake Crouch, I think I’d cry at such a dog’s breakfast of a cover… Thank you for sharing!
I really like the UK edition!
