Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
OK, funny NetGalley story: You know how sometimes you can “wish” for books on NetGalley? Well this past week I had a wish granted—for a book I requested SEVEN years ago, lol. It must have been a mistake, but it gave me a good laugh. I filled out the review basically saying “Sorry I won’t be reviewing this book I requested seven years ago!”
Upcoming reads and reviews:
Lately I’ve been having a tough time concentrating on reading, which is evident by how far behind I am with my Goodreads goal this year. I always try to get two reviews posted every week, but it’s really a struggle right now (life distractions that are taking my focus away from reading and blogging). I only finished one book last week, The Luminaries, and my review will be up tomorrow. I’ve started Reckoning, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to review it this week. Other books I want to start soon are White Horse and Ocean’s Echo.
Other posts this week:
On Tuesday, I’m sharing Ten Young Adult Science Fiction Books to Read in 2023; I have three cool new SF covers to share on Future Fiction; and The Friday Face-Off is “the gang.” And I may do a book haul post on Saturday if I can get my act together, lol.
In case you missed:
My posts from last week:

The Hollow Kind by Andy Davidson – Review 4.5/5 stars
What? From seven years ago?? LOL Have a great week Tammy!
Thanks Sophie, you too:-)
Oh someone is definitely clearing out their inbox for you to get an approval seven years later!
Ha ha that must be it!
Beautiful stork-sunrise photo! That’s so funny about a NetGalley wish being granted seven years later!

Thanks Priscilla! Yes, seven years. I wonder why, lol.
7 years to wait for Netgalley book, I guess as long as they don’t refuse, there’s always hope, lol!
When things get rough, I tend to devour more books, and take less time to review…

Apparently there is hope!
I have gotten books from a long time ago from Netgalley. If it something I still want to read and haven’t I am like cool, weird but cool. I often wonder if the book wasn’t doing well or they wanted some more publicity for it so they let someone have it in hopes they will like and promote it…lol.
Have a great week and happy reading!

I feel like it was a mistake, it was pretty funny.
Hopefully we can get through most of these life distractions before the holidays hit so maybe we can enjoy a little downtime. Hoping this week moves in a better direction for you. And how’s Moses doing? If that photo of the pelican is any indication he’s still creating beautiful images.
Thanks Todd! He’s doing well. Still finding lots of wildlife to shoot:-)
Wow. My experience is they never grant wishes. You and Robin will be review twins with The Luminaries tomorrow. I do 3-4 reviews a week and my team does the rest. We have a review every day and sometimes it feels like we need more days because we want to read more books. Other times it feels brutal to get my reviews done.

I’ve been granted a few wishes over the years.
That’s really a funny story about NetGalley! Wishes do come true… eventually. LOL. Have a great week!
Ha ha so true:-)
Seven years ago?! Oh my goodness… a bit late, NetGalley hahaha

Right? LOL
Well, seven years are a lot!! And I have started Ocean’s Echo and so far I am having a really good time!!
I can’t wait to start it:-)
That is a funny story. 🙂 You just never know! And that Donovan cover is reminding me AGAIN to start that series lol.

Start it, Greg!
Oh my gosh, how funny! Was it a publisher you’re working with now that you didn’t back then? Crazy! I read and LOVED Luminaries this past week. My first book by that author, but now I need the sequel. I’ll have to check out your review too, mine posts tomorrow. Have a good week!

It was a publisher I’ve worked with for a while. I feel like it was a mistake!
Seven year later?! LOL! I’m looking forward to your review of Luminaries but I hear you on life distractions being in the way of reading and blogging. Between work and my mom’s surgery last week, I fell even further behind than I already was and am starting to think I’ll never catch up. I hope you have a great week!
I hope your mom is OK, Suzanne!
Omg, that’s so funny about the NetGalley request! I wonder how that happens, lol. I am right there with you with the concentration struggles. I’m looking forward to your review for The Luminaries! White Horse is one I’ve been reading for a while and still need to finish. I hope you have a great week and that you are able to get done all the reading you want to. 🙂
So far I’m still stuck on the same book, lol. Crazy week!
Honestly, I never had a wish granted on Netgalley and to have one granted seven years after the fact is a joke!
I feel you on the GoodReads goal, I’ve read 49 books out of the 75 I’m “supposed” to read and I don’t think I’ll be able to catch-up. It’s not that big of a deal but still, I wish I had read a bit more this year.

It’s been a weird reading year for me. I think next year I’m going to set my goal low just so I don’t feel bad, lol.
Ha ha ha! I LOVE the fact that Netgalley has granted a 7 year old wish:)). I shan’t give up on some of the books that I’ve yearned for over the years and never got to read, now. And what a stunning pic – thank you for sharing that, Tammy. I know just how you feel regarding reviews – now the boys are living with us, I find days slip by and I haven’t written one… And it’s so much harder if I leave a gap between finishing the book and writing my impressions of it!! Have a great week.
Maybe you will get a long ago wish as well:-)
Wow a wish granted after seven years! You can’t say wishes don’t come true anymore hahah!
LOL I guess you’re right!
Hahaha, the same thing happened to me with a book that I wished for years ago and it was granted earlier this month. I bet you it’s the same publisher. Needless to say, I’ll probably be leaving a similar comment!

So funny! I think mine was Tor.
Wow, why would they grant that wish now! So strange. That being said, I confess that I have books waiting to read that have been patiently waiting for seven years so there is that.
