September 2022 – Reading Wrap-Up

It was another great month of reading, with mostly high marks for the eight books I reviewed. It seems I’m taking spooky season seriously and getting a jump start, as all of these are horror/thrillers! (That wasn’t planned, by the way.) This month is a little unusual because I review a non-fiction memoir and two short story collections. Here’s a breakdown of the month, and you can click on the titles if you missed my review:

Gallows Hill by Darcy Coates

A Dowry of Blood by S.T. Gibson

Full Immersion by Gemma Amor

Effects Vary by Michael Harris Cohen

Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke by Eric LaRocca

Southern Fried & Horrified by Ronald Kelly

Always the First to Die by R.J. Jacobs

House of Hunger by Alexis Henderson

What was your favorite book of September?

  1. You are certainly getting geared up for Halloween, Tammy. And it was clearly a wonderful reading month – here’s hoping this golden streak continues:)).

You’re right, that non fiction cover is very “fiction-like.” I think that’s why I like it:-)

  2. Nice! I’m just now trying to get spun up on some horror, or horror-like titles. Just started a reread of Frankenstein, this time via audio. I’ll likely start Gallows Hill soon, and then Effects Vary a bit later in the month. My favorite read of September was probably either Good Omens or volumes 1 & 2 of the comic book series, Saga. Here’s to a great October!

  3. I had some really great reads but horror is not for me. I’d say The Bullet That Missed by Richard Osman, Killers of a Certain Age by Deanna Raybourn, Murder on the SErpentine Bridge by Andrea Penrose and Forsaken Country by Allen Eskens wer my new release 5 heart reads. But also two older David Baldacci books in the Will Robie series.
