Over-Booked [164] – A Book Haul Post

Welcome to Over-Booked, where I share my latest and greatest book acquisitions! There is a new blog hosting Stacking the Shelves, so do check out Reading Reality for more information!

This is my book haul from the last few weeks, and I couldn’t more excited to check all of these out:-)

Physical books for review:

For all you non-horror fans, sorry this first bunch is almost all horror. I’m so excited to have a copy of Don’t Fear the Reaper by Stephen Graham Jones in my hands. It doesn’t come out until February but I’d love to read it well before that. Hugs to Gallery/Saga Press for the review copy:-)

I’m on the blog tour later in the month for Full Immersion by Gemma Amor, and I’ve been hearing good things about it so far. Big thanks to Angry Robot!

With thanks to Tor, I’m thrilled to have a copy of Ocean’s Echo by Everina Maxwell. I really had fun with the first book in the series, Winter’s Orbit. I believe this is more of a stand alone than a direct sequel.

Big thanks to author Michael Harris Cohen for a copy of his upcoming Effects Vary, which I recently featured on Future Fiction. This comes out in about a month so I’ll be reading it soon:-)

Eric LaRocca has a new edition of his novella collection Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke, out this month from Titan books. I’m so excited to have a copy. I’ve already started reading the first story and I’m hooked! Thank you Titan:-D

Tordotcom has been very generous lately, huge thanks for these upcoming releases, all of which I believe I’ve featured on Future Fiction. Wild Massive by Scotto Moore was a surprise arrival and I couldn’t be happier to have a copy, it sounds, well, wild!

Feed Them Silence by Lee Mandelo is very short and and sounds very good. A woman is able to share the mind of a wolf, I think? Can’t wait:-)

I was very excited to receive a copy of The Crane Husband by Kelly Barnhill, another surprise. This is a retelling of The Crane Wife and sounds intriguing!

And last but not least, I’m finally going to read Kate Elliott, lol. The Keeper’s Six sounds like an interesting mix of fantasy and sc-fi.

Digital books for review:

Raven Unveiled by Grace Draven is the third book in her Fallen Empire series, which I’ve quite enjoyed. Isn’t this cover pretty?

I’ve been hearing really good things about Dark Room Etiquette by Robin Roe, and I’m very happy to have a review copy.

I had to grab Sister, Maiden, Monster by Lucy A. Snyder when I saw it on NetGalley. I just love this rather disturbing cover, and I’m excited to read my first Lucy Snyder book!

Finally, I was just approved for The Writing Retreat by Julia Bartz, and I’m really looking forward to this thriller about a group of horror writers at a writing retreat.

With thanks to Ace, HarperTeen, Tor Nightfire and Atria:-D

Do you have plans to read any of these books?

Wow those first five feature some very different covers! I’m curious about Wild Massive, I hope it’s good!

  2. I recently stumbled across Sister, Maiden, Monster, and you’re right, it’s a disturbing cover, but I couldn’t look away. 🙂
