Buffy’s Corner 6/12/22 – Looking at the Week Ahead

Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D

I guess summer is here, because it’s been in the 90s all week and next week looks just about the same!

I just watched the first episode of First Kill on NetFlix and I really liked it. It’s very slick production quality, I love the music, and the story, while nothing new (a vampire and a monster killer fall for each other), has some interesting characters. I’m definitely going to keep watching. I’m also up to Season 3 with my Stranger Things rewatch:-)

Upcoming reads & reviews:

I finally finished Ordinary Monsters, and I loved it. Look for my review tomorrow:-D And I’m about half way through Half a Soul and really enjoying it. It’s a great mix of humor, magic and historical romance. I should have a review up sometime this week! Next up, We Can Never Leave This Place and The Peacekeeper. Of course, depending on my mood, I may switch things up, we’ll see…

Other posts this week:

I don’t have anything unusual planned, just reviews, Future Fiction on Wednesday, and The Friday Face-Off, which is “so pretty.” Yep, it’s going to be a rather boring week here, lol.

In case you missed:

My posts from last week:

The Friday Face-Off: Turquoise Cover

Future Fiction #180

Twelve Books with the Word “Day” in the Title

A Mirror Mended by Alix E. Harrow – Review 4.5/5 stars

  1. A post on Lashaan’s blog piqued my curiosity about First Kill, so I might add it to my viewing queue given that your first impressions are good – besides… vampires! Enough said… 😉
And that coyote has something of a… noble stance, for want of a better word. I like it!

  2. I need to check out First Kill because it’s the first I heard of it and it seems interesting! And I am glad you are enjoying Half A Soul, I hope to get to it soon!

  3. Looking forward to your thoughts on Ordinary Monsters. Nice portrait of a coyote. We had an unforutnate coyote incident around here last weekend. There was one attacking people at a local park, until it bit a cop and the cop shot it. It then tested positive for rabies. Thankfully, things like this don’t happen all that often. Hope you have a great “boring” week. 🙂

Oh no, I feel bad for the cop. Coyotes usually avoid people, so it’s good that those situations are rare.

  4. Summer has finally made it’s way here we are under heat advisories and it is 95 today…blah, but at least it’s not raining!! 🙂 Season 3 of Stranger Things was not my favorite to angsty…lol, Then again I wasn’t a huge fan of s4 either ep7 was my favorite of the whole thing. I am curious about the two that come out in July though.

  5. I have Half a Soul on my TBR pile – and I’ve just finished reading The Peacekeeper, which I picked up after reading Maddalena’s review:)). I hope the coming week is a good one – and thank you so much for sharing that beautiful pic of the fox.

Thanks Lisa! It is getting sort of weird, but I’m curious so I’m going to keep watching.

  6. That show sounds pretty good. I’ll have to check it out. And sounds like your stranger Things rewatch is humming along! I just finished S4 and my daughter just rewatched S4. I was like wow I finally get through it and she’s watched it TWICE lol.

I’ve watched three episodes now and…I’m not sure about it, lol. It’s very weird and the acting isn’t great. But I’m giving it a few more episodes before I call it quits!

  7. Currently reading The Peacekeeper, and it’s taking me a long time. Not that it’s bad, I think it’s just that I’ve been so busy! I’m actually enjoying it so far, it’s an interesting mystery.
