I am so honored today to be sharing the cover of Robin Kirk’s third book in The Bond Trilogy, The Mother’s Wheel, which will be released on September 6th. Huge thanks to Robin for allowing me to participate. Not only is the cover being revealed today, but the entire series is getting a lovely cover redesign, so I’ll be sharing the new covers of the first two books as well. You may remember how much I loved The Bond and The Hive Queen, so you can understand how excited I am to read The Mother’s Wheel!
To make things even more exciting, Robin has an AMAZING giveaway going on! For U.S. readers only, Robin is offering two newsletter subscribers a complete set of the trilogy (with the new covers!). I’ll put information about the giveaway at the end of this post! Trust me, you do NOT want to miss this opportunity.
Here’s a description of the book, and keep scrolling for the cover reveal!
In the Bond Trilogy, women rule, men fight to survive, and mutants must choose which side to support to win their own freedom.
The Mother’s Wheel is the thrilling conclusion of the Bond Trilogy. The mutant draft Sil, who readers met in The Bond, leads a ragtag group of desperate refugees to hoped-for safety in The Deep. Along the way, they meet an orangutan who loves poetry and guards the narrow path into the jungle. But safety proves elusive as the refugees are pulled back into the war unfolding on the heights. A fearsome bee-mutant attacks as part of his plan to murder his sister, the lovely and dangerous Hive Queen.
Will love or hate rule? Who, in the end, can you count on as family when you are the only one of your kind? Their destinies entwined, Sil, Dinitra, and Fir reunite and must choose between each other and the worlds they once called their own.

About the author:
ROBIN KIRK (she/hers) teaches human rights at Duke University.
Kirk is the author of numerous books, short stories, essays, and poems. Righting Wrongs: 20 Human Rights Heroes around the World, is a children’s book profiling human rights leaders.
According to Kyle Knight, senior researcher on health and LGBT rights, at Human Rights Watch, “Righting Wrongs plunges readers into not only the achievements of a group of influential human rights advocates, but also the how and why they came to undertake such daunting and complex work. This book provides thorough context about the complicated and ever-changing environments where human rights activism takes place, while also sparking curiosity. The study guides, glossary, and list of sites to visit invite readers to see the text as a jumping off point for their own engagement with human rights activism down the street and on the other side of the world.”
The Bond Trilogy—The Bond, The Hive Queen, and The Mother’s Wheel—explores a fantasy world where women rule, men must fight for their freedom, and mutants must choose which side to fight for.
Kirk’s short story, “Love is a Wild Creature,” is included in Wicked South. Her travel essay on Belfast was featured in the Best American Travel Writing 2012 edited by William T. Vollman. Her chapbook poetry collection, Peculiar Motion, is available from Finishing Line Press. Her poem, “Imperator Furiosa posts a status update,” is included in the 2017 Nasty Women Poets Anthology of Subversive Verse (Lost Horse Press).
Kirk has also published two non-fiction books, one on human rights in Colombia and the other on human rights in Peru. She is a co-editor of Duke University Press’s World Reader series, beginning with The Peru Reader: History, Culture, Politics.
It’s a great cover, and it fits well with the other two books. Together they look fantastic!

They do look fantastic! They make me want to read the whole series again from the beginning:-)
Those covers work well together. I love seeing the covers for an entire series, how the artists keep them in a theme but still make them unique. And that’s an interesting thought about who you’d count as family if you were the only one of your kind.
There are so many interesting ideas in this series, it’s very special:-)
It’s a great cover that fits really well with the other ones. I love all the different colors the three of them have. 😀
Me too, and they covers fit the story so well:-)
In LOVE with those book covers!
