I’m linking up with Top Ten Tuesday. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Check out upcoming Top Ten themes on Jana’s blog!
Today is the saddest of lists, the books I was so excited to read but I just couldn’t make it happen last year. Honestly, I have way more than ten, but these are the books I regret not reading the most. BUT I am challenging myself to read these in 2022, and below you can vote on which of these I should read first! Please help me out and vote:-)
Here they are in alphabetical order:

The Library of the Dead is on my TBR list. It sounds like an awesome concept! Only reason for me to suggest you read that. Don’t blame me if you end up not liking it haha.

Ha ha I promise I won’t:-)
All of Us Villains was awesome! I just recently picked up a copy of Empire of Vampire as a Christmas present for myself. Happy reading to the both of us!
Yes! I hope we both love Empire of the Vampire:-)
From those books I’ve read only Empire of the Vampire and The Mask of Mirrors but they are really great, with complex characters and plot lines and dark vibes, very atmospheric. The Mask of Mirrors is also full of intrigues, and it’s pure pleasure observing how the main character plays her cards and builds her position among nobles.
I’m so excited for both!
I have read only The Mask of Mirrors and really enjoyed that book, so I hope tou will read, and love, it!! And Empire of the Vampire is at the top of my list of books I really wanted to read last year and didn’t!!
I hope we can both cross that off our list, Susy:-)
I have far too many books from last year that I haven’t read yet to mention, but I am very much a mood reader so tend not to plan ahead. I’ve voted for Chasing the Boogeyman as that sounds very cool.
I can’t wait to read it!. And yay for being a mood reader. I’m starting to do that more and more.
I was undecided between The Mask of Mirrors and Empire of the Vampire, but in the end the latter won because, you know, vampires… 😉
Maddalena@spaceandsorcery recently posted…EMPIRE OF THE VAMPIRE (Empire of the Vampire #1), by Jay Kristoff
Yay! That will probably be my first read from this list.
I have many books I wanted to read last year but didn’t get to. One of them, a classic by Atwood called The Edible Woman, I just started.:-)
Priscilla Bettis recently posted…It’s Release Day for “The Hay Bale”!
I’ve never heard of that Atwood. Interesting, I hope you enjoy it:-)
I voted for Empire of the Vampire because I want to know what you think about it before I attempt it myself lol
Stephanie @ Bookfever recently posted…Book Blitz: Sweet Mercy by Amelia Wilde
I’m glad you did, because to be honest, that’s the one I want to read first:-)
“Do you have any books that you didn’t read last year but wanted to?”
Howl! LOL Look at ye, askin’ this cringe innoculously! LOL
Ha ha you mean I’m not the only one struggling with this? lol
All of Us Villains sure sounds good!

It really does, and I’ve read some great reviews.
I haven’t even heard of most of these let alone read them, so I’m no help! I hope you enjoy all these when you get to them.
Happy TTT!

Ha ha, thanks for stopping by, Susan!
I liked All of Us Villains, and enjoyed Velvet Was the Night too. I’m still planning to read We Are Satellites… but I have so many unread books at this point that I have no idea when I’ll actually get to it!
That’s sort of how I’m feeling too!
Ah yes, The Cabinet!
Also on my TBR, but shows in 2006, as 1st time published, in original language.
By the way, this is a cool poll. Is it a widget you use for self-hosting??
Here is my list: https://wordsandpeace.com/2022/01/18/top-ten-2021-releases-i-was-excited-to-read-but-didnt-get-to/
I actually used a plug in called “Poll” but there is also a poll in widgets which I think anyone can use, even if you aren’t self hosted.
I haven’t read any of these, but I had to pick Slewfoot. Based on the results so far, though, it looks like Empire of the Vampire is way out there in the lead. Another LONG one, but it does sound good. As for which books I didn’t get to? The list is way too long to go into, but I know you’ll appreciate that Feral Creatures is on the list. 🙂
I hope you get to Feral Creatures at some point:-)
I also want to read the Kristoff, in fact I’m so disappointed with myself because here’s what sounds like a great vampire book and I haven’t picked it up. What the heck.
Lynn 😀
Me too. I really regret not reading it, so it will probably be the first one I tackle.
All of Us Villains was on my list this week too!
Jo recently posted…Top Ten Tuesday #351
I’ve heard so many good things about it. I hope we can both read it!
The Library of the Dead made my list too, and so I voted for that one. These all sound good though!
They do all sound good, and it’s already stressing me out! LOL
Ooh a poll. 🙂 I voted Velvet just because I’ve heard so much of that author 🙂

She’s great. I’ve heard Velvet Was the Night is very different from her other books.
Several of these would also be on mine if I were posting today. I’m really hoping to read The Jasmine Throne, The Mask of Mirrors and Empire of the Vampire this year. I didn’t read any of my most anticipated in September when they released and I’m still sad about that!
Good luck to both of us, catching up with last year’s misses…
It is the saddest. I created a list of series I want to read this year and it’s so loooooooooong.
That’s one thing I’m not going to do, make a list of series. I think it would be overwhelming!
My vote’s for The Cabinet – the cover has me intrigued 😀 One book I didn’t get to in 2021 but want to read this year is The Mirror Season by Anna-Marie McLemore.

I love the cover for The Cabinet!
I missed half of the books on your list. And, while I did enjoy “Empire of the Vampire,” I voted for “The Jasmine Throne.”
Thanks for voting!
YAY! We both match on Empire of the Vampire! Great list!

Thanks Ronyell, hope we can both get to it!
The only one on your list I’ve read is The Library of the Dead. I liked it and look forward to the next book, but I voted for The Cabinet since the cover is so interesting. I hope you enjoy all these as you read them this year, Tammy!
Thanks Jan!
Wowww there are so many amazing books to choose from in your backlog!! I love the poll at the end so cool!
Rebecca @Powder & Page recently posted…Can’t Wait Wednesday: Flames of Mira by Clay Harmon
I know, I feel like I can’t go wrong with any of these:-)
Oh man, with The Mask of Mirrors, The Jasmine Throne AND Empire of the Vampire on your TBR, I’d say you’ve got some great reading ahead of you!
I can’t wait!
I picked Empire of the Vampire, mainly because it’s one I didn’t get to either. I just know it’s going to be amazing, but it’s such a brick, lol.
This is such a good list haha! So many of these are on my TBR, too – and as you know, Empire of the Vampire made my list for the week as well! I also really want to read Slewfoot. I haven’t read anything from the author yet, but I hear high praise all the time.
Destiny @ Howling Libraries recently posted…Where the Drowned Girls Go (Wayward Children, #7) — Seanan McGuire
I have a few of these on my tbr too but the ones I majorly need to get to are Empire Of Vampires & The Jasmine Throne. I did manage to get All Of Us Villains read last year though and loved it. I hope you get to all of these soon.
I voted for Empire of the Vampire. I think you might like that one. From the reviews I’ve seen, it seems to be really good.
I’ve only read The Library of the Dead, Velvet of the Night and We Are Satellites so I didn’t take part in your poll. But personally, the one that has resonated the most with me is We Are Satellites. I loved the family dynamic and the intelligent way Pinsker deals with the consequences of the new tech. Thank you for this post – Mask of Mirrors is also on my list of books to get around to:)).
The Jasmine Throne and The Mask of Mirrors are two 2021 I really want to read as well, I don’t know if I’ll read them both this year but I’ll try my best! 😉

All of Us Villains is on my wishlist for last year too. Great list! I see some others on it I’d be interested in.
