2021 Regrets: Books I Wanted to Read But Didn’t Get To

I’m linking up with Top Ten Tuesday. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Check out upcoming Top Ten themes on Jana’s blog!

Today is the saddest of lists, the books I was so excited to read but I just couldn’t make it happen last year. Honestly, I have way more than ten, but these are the books I regret not reading the most. BUT I am challenging myself to read these in 2022, and below you can vote on which of these I should read first! Please help me out and vote:-)

Here they are in alphabetical order:

Do you have any books that you didn’t read last year but wanted to?

From those books I’ve read only Empire of the Vampire and The Mask of Mirrors but they are really great, with complex characters and plot lines and dark vibes, very atmospheric. The Mask of Mirrors is also full of intrigues, and it’s pure pleasure observing how the main character plays her cards and builds her position among nobles.

  2. I have read only The Mask of Mirrors and really enjoyed that book, so I hope tou will read, and love, it!! And Empire of the Vampire is at the top of my list of books I really wanted to read last year and didn’t!!

  3. I have far too many books from last year that I haven’t read yet to mention, but I am very much a mood reader so tend not to plan ahead. I’ve voted for Chasing the Boogeyman as that sounds very cool.

I can’t wait to read it!. And yay for being a mood reader. I’m starting to do that more and more.

  4. I liked All of Us Villains, and enjoyed Velvet Was the Night too. I’m still planning to read We Are Satellites… but I have so many unread books at this point that I have no idea when I’ll actually get to it!

I actually used a plug in called “Poll” but there is also a poll in widgets which I think anyone can use, even if you aren’t self hosted.

  5. I haven’t read any of these, but I had to pick Slewfoot. Based on the results so far, though, it looks like Empire of the Vampire is way out there in the lead. Another LONG one, but it does sound good. As for which books I didn’t get to? The list is way too long to go into, but I know you’ll appreciate that Feral Creatures is on the list. 🙂

  6. I also want to read the Kristoff, in fact I’m so disappointed with myself because here’s what sounds like a great vampire book and I haven’t picked it up. What the heck.
    Lynn 😀

  7. Several of these would also be on mine if I were posting today. I’m really hoping to read The Jasmine Throne, The Mask of Mirrors and Empire of the Vampire this year. I didn’t read any of my most anticipated in September when they released and I’m still sad about that!

  8. The only one on your list I’ve read is The Library of the Dead. I liked it and look forward to the next book, but I voted for The Cabinet since the cover is so interesting. I hope you enjoy all these as you read them this year, Tammy!

  9. Oh man, with The Mask of Mirrors, The Jasmine Throne AND Empire of the Vampire on your TBR, I’d say you’ve got some great reading ahead of you!

  10. I have a few of these on my tbr too but the ones I majorly need to get to are Empire Of Vampires & The Jasmine Throne. I did manage to get All Of Us Villains read last year though and loved it. I hope you get to all of these soon.

  11. I voted for Empire of the Vampire. I think you might like that one. From the reviews I’ve seen, it seems to be really good.

  12. I’ve only read The Library of the Dead, Velvet of the Night and We Are Satellites so I didn’t take part in your poll. But personally, the one that has resonated the most with me is We Are Satellites. I loved the family dynamic and the intelligent way Pinsker deals with the consequences of the new tech. Thank you for this post – Mask of Mirrors is also on my list of books to get around to:)).
