Looking Back: December Wrap-Up

And here we are at the end of the year…

December was meant to be a “catch up” “get ahead” type of month, and in that respect I sort of succeeded. I managed to read three of my January books and nearly completed a fourth, so go me! However, I only posted three reviews this month, an all time low for me. But at least I’m a bit ahead with my January reading.

I also wanted to post a visual recap of my reading this year, according to Goodreads. I met my goal of reading 95 books, but at one point I was five books ahead and I was sure I’d hit 100. Oh well, something to aim for next year!

Here are the books I read/reviewed in December (click on the links to read my reviews):

Revelator by Daryl Gregory

A Marvellous Light by Freya Marske

Razorblade Tears by S.A. Cosby

Read, reviews to come in January

How did your December reading go?

  1. I’m all about looking for anything positive within the negative, so congratulations on an all new record, even if it is an all time low. 😉 Seriously, though, you’ve read a LOT of books this year, and it appears you’ve enjoyed the vast majority of them, so that right there is a win any way you look at it. As for myself, I’m short of my goal by 4 books, and one less read than last year. But like you, I enjoyed more than not, so I’m happy. 🙂

Yes, I feel like I was more careful about selecting what I wanted to read, and that made it a great year overall.

  2. I thought for sure I would make 100 this year when I looked at my progress about half way through the year. I ended up with 81, so much shorter of that than you, but still I beat my Goodreads goal of 10 books, so technically I did amazing this year, number wise. LOL It is quality over quantity though, right? And it sounds like you read a lot of wonderful books. I hope you have a Happy New Year, Tammy!

You did do amazing! I think it’s easy to have lots of steam the first half of the year, and then slow down later in the year, at least that’s what happened to me. Happy New Year, Wendy!

  3. I always aim for 100 even back when I used to blow through more than 200 books a year! Ah, those are the days, I don’t think I’ll get back to that kind of output anytime soon. Now I’m pulling off 130-140, so my 100 goal still lets me feel good haha. 95 is very impressive though, you will do 100 next year for sure!

  4. well, quality is far more important than quantity, and it looks like you read great books this year. I’m so glad I discovered your blog this year! Happy new year of reading!
You’ve seen my December recap post. Starting on Monday, I will post 3 posts of recap for 2021, my top best, stats, and a fun meme!

  5. Well done Tammy. I just made my 100 – 101 in total. That’s a bit low for me but life interfered this year and to be honest I always stick with a 100 target – it feels like a nice amount to me – two books a week more or less. Here’s to a great reading year in 2022.
    Lynn 😀
