This week’s theme: Fairytale retelling
Oh so many choices this week! I’ve decided to go with House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig, a YA fantasy retelling of The Twelve Dancing Princesses. This was a mixed bag for me, I enjoyed parts but had issues with some elements, but I do love the covers, and I was able to find four to share today.
2019 U.S. edition | 2020 Italian edition
2021 German edition | 2021 Slovak edition
You can tell this is a very dark story by how dark most of the covers are. I like all of these, but for my favorite I’m sticking with the original U.S. edition, which has such a detailed cover if you look closely. Plus that font!
I agree. They’re all good, but you picked the best one!

The first cover is my favorite, too. It’s so pretty.
Wow they’re all so different!
Your choice is a gorgeous combination of colors and motifs, indeed 🙂

Your choice is the best by a long country mile… I love all the detail of it. Thank you for sharing, Tammy:)).
That first one will always be my favorite. It suits the content so well.
I agree that the US cover is my favorite of these. I still need to read it though!
I had no idea this one was a fairy tale retelling! I would choose that cover too.
Still like the US version the best. 🙂
I like your pick, too, and I had no idea of the details until you mentioned it and I zoomed in. It certainly does help establish the setting, or at least what I would imagine the setting to be.
Nice, I need to look more closely at that theme. My favorite is your first cover.
And my favorite fairytale retelling is Bitter Greens, by Kate Forsyth. I wrote a happy review here: https://wordsandpeace.com/2014/10/03/book-review-and-giveaway-bitter-greens-i-love-france-113/
Your pick is my favorite too. I even have the book sitting on my shelf and had never noticed all of the details until reading your post, lol.
I agree that these are all very pretty covers. I’ll go with the Italian cover with that great mask.
Ditto Mogsy’s comment – I didn’t know this was a fairytale retelling! And I love your favourite.
