The Friday Face-Off: Futuristic Vista #SciFiMonth

ARTWORK by Liu Zishan from 123RF.com

The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!

This week’s theme: A book with a futuristic vista

I think I found the perfect book for this week’s prompt: Central Station by Lavie Tidhar, a book I read several years ago and loved. I was pleased to find eight different covers for this book, and most of them are very futuristic! Let’s take a look:

Tachyon Publications, U.S. paperback edition 2016 | Tachyon Publications, U.S. Kindle edition 2016

Romanian edition 2018 | Russian edition 2018

Polish edition 2017 | Czech edition 2018

German edition 2018 | Chinese edition 2020

I love a lot of these! But for my favorite I’m leaning toward the Russian edition:

Which cover is your favorite?

  1. Oh hey this is the first time I’ve noticed a Romanian edition! And it’s not half bad! (pls note my memory is actual crap so if there were ones before and I’ve made this exact comment pls excuse)

  2. Ordinarily I think I’d also pick the Russian edition. I love its darker more realistic feel. And yet I keep going back to the US Paperback edition. There’s just something about that simpler monochromatic layout that I really like.
