Buffy’s Corner 10/31/21 – Looking at the Week Ahead

Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D

Happy Halloween, everyone! I can’t believe tomorrow is November already. Speaking of which, if you are a fan of science fiction, you might already know that November is SciFiMonth here in blogland. I have a lot planned, as do lots of other blogs, so check back tomorrow for my kick-off post! The rest of this week is crammed full of stuff on the blog too, so it’s going to be a busy week. Let’s get right to it!

Upcoming Reviews:

I barely have any review spots open this week, due to other types of posts, but I’m going to squeeze these two in anyway. Later today, look for my review of The Workshop of Filthy Creation which was a ton of fun! It’s an imaginative take on the Frankenstein mythos set in Victorian London, and it was so well written. And later in the week, maybe Friday, look for my review of NIghtwatch on the Hinterlands. I’m still reading it but wow it’s so good! This will be my first official SciFiMonth review.

Upcoming reads:

My next two reads will probably be Noor and Swashbucklers, both are November releases. I’m excited for them, and they already have a ton a great ratings on Goodreads and awesome reviews from bloggers I trust. I also want to make sure I get to A Marvellous Light, which releases this week and is one of my non science fiction review books this month.

Other posts:

Tomorrow is November 1st and that means it’s my SciFiMonth kick-off! Stop by and see what my plans are:-D Tuesday is the first of my SciFiMonth “List” posts, so make sure you don’t miss 12 Adult Science Fiction Books to Read in 2022! On Wednesday, I have a trio of amazing sounding SF books on Future Fiction. Thursday I’m doing a rare blog tour for Tor Books and I’ll be hosting Ada Palmer with a very interesting and thought-provoking guest post called Octopus Rights and Imaginary Civil Rights Allies. Tor is celebrating the release of Palmer’s Perhaps the Stars, the fourth and final book in her Terra Ignota series. And the Friday Face-Off is “first sci-fi book read.”

In case you missed:

Last week was a busy one! Did you miss any of these posts?

  1. The cover to Swashbucklers is so cool. I think turkey vultures are majestic birds. They smell bad, yes (but so do I after I’ve eaten spicy garlic chicken), and their talons are terrifying, but your hubby certainly captured their proud and handsome profile.

  2. Well, I didn’t get much horror reading done in October so we’ll see what I can do about scifi in November. Beautiful head shot. Vultures never get enough love. I mean, just look at that smile! 🙂

I agree! I’ve always loved vultures, and in this photo he looks like he’s wearing a fur coat:-) (or “she”)

  3. Though not a big sci-fi person I am looking forward to your post! I am reading one sci-fi novella to loosely participate in some friends New World November challenge on booktube. They are called The Bookish Bryant’s if you would like to check out their challenge! 🙂

Have a great week and happy reading!

  4. Oh my goodness! I’d forgotten that we are just about to trip over Sci Fi month!! I have read a disgracefully small amount of science fiction this year – a lot of it tends to be quite downbeat or dystopian. And right now I am looking for something humorous and lighter in tone… The pic of the vulture is simply splendid. I hope you enjoy this week’s reads, Tammy. And hopefully I can visit a little bit more often:)).

It’s wonderful to see you here again, Sarah! I hope this means things are improving a little with your illness. Yes, SciFiMonth certainly seemed to come fast, I can hardly believe it’s already November!
