Looking Back: October Wrap-Up

October was just OK for me, simply because it felt like I was off my reading game and didn’t get to all my October review books. But I did manage to post eight reviews, so I guess it could have been worse! I enjoyed most of the books I read, although there was one that didn’t work for me at all (Summer Sons). Here are the books I read and reviewed this month, with links to my reviews if you missed any:

These Silent Woods by Kimi Cunningham Grant

Comfort Me With Apples by Catherynne M. Valente

From the Neck Up by Aliya Whiteley

The Warrior Poet by Sharon Lynn Fisher

Nothing But Blackened Teeth by Cassandra Khaw

A Spindle Splintered by Alix E. Harrow

Flowers For the Sea by Zin E. Rocklyn

Summer Sons by Lee Mandelo

Have you read any of these? How did your October reading go?

I’ve only read one of these! And my October reading went… I dunno actually lol, my month was so busy I wasn’t really paying attention. Plenty of time off this month, so hopefully it’ll go better. Hope your November is as good as your October was;)

  2. Well, I think that’s a great reading month (and you had your eye op too!). I was definitely off my game this month too although I was also trying to complete stage 1 of SPFBO in order to meet the deadline. Now that’s complete I need to do some catching up with reviews.

I can’t imagine how busy you are with SPFBO as well as your own reading. At least you’ll have a bit of a break now:-)

  3. I really enjoyed These Silent Woods, but that’s all I’ve read of these. My reading month has bit a bit hit or miss with some really good stuff and some decent stuff. Thankfully, nothing I really disliked. I didn’t get much in the way of horror read, though I’d hoped to. Maybe I’ll try again in November. 🙂

  4. Overall not a bad reading month! I had way more two stars than you…lol. I will need to remember to do a wrap up because I think I have forgotten to do so last few months!!

I’m glad other people are loving Summer Sons. I felt bad rating it so low, so I guess it just wasn’t the book for me.

  5. Summer Sons and Flowers for the Sea are probably off the table for me now, because from your reviews I don’t think either of those will work too well for me. If I have time I still might try them since they look short, but my Nov and Dec are going to be packed with plenty of catch up books already!
