The Friday Face-Off: “Queen” in the Title

The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!

This week’s theme: A book with “queen” in the title.

I did a post a couple of years ago listing books with the words “king” and “queen” in the title, and that was fun. But today I’m just focusing on one book, Red Queen by Christina Henry. There are only three covers but they are good ones! Take a look:

Ace Books U.S. edition 2016. I love the quirkiness of the U.S. covers for this series, and this one is no exception. These books are very dark, but you can see the oddness of the story reflected in this cover. This is my favorite!

Titan Books, UK edition 2916. Titan has taken a completely different approach to the story, and I like this a lot as well.

Polish edition 2021. And here is yet another interpretation! I’m not sure how successful this cover is, but I do love the graphic novel quality it has.

Do you have a favorite? Have you read Red Queen?

  1. What a great pick for this week. 🙂 I also love her U.S. covers, they are so distinctive. The UK covers are also usually really nice! That Polish one is so drastically different, I’d never seen it before-a very interesting direction! I like it, but not sure if I like it for this book, haha.

  2. I love the Polish cover – wow.
The top cover puts me in mind of Monty Python – I can almost hear the theme music playing every time I look at it. (Which does make me smile).
    Lynn 😀
