The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!
This week’s theme: Detective/Noir
Technically, the prompt calls for “20s Detective Noir,” but I couldn’t find anything from that era. Instead, I’ve chosen Stephen King’s The Colorado Kid, which fits the noir theme, even though it’s set in a different era. I like a lot of these covers, take a look:
Hard Case Crime edition, 2006 | Hard Case Crime Illustrated Edition, 2019 | Greek, 2015 edition
PS Publishing edition, 2010 | French edition, 2006 | Russian edition, 2015
Polish edition, 2005 | Spanish edition, 2015 | Hungarian edition, 2008
For me it’s a tie between the two Hard Case editions. I like them both, and they both say “detective/noir” to me.

The Hard Case cover on the left looks perfect: nothing says “noir fiction” like the picture of a Dark Lady in a sultry pose! π
I like the French edition. It looks pretty noir-ish to me with the hats!
I always enjoyed that 2006 Hard Case edition, it’s very pulpy. π
Yeah, those you chose definitely have that look of possibly being 20’s detective noir.
His Hard Case Crime books fit these very well! I like both of those!
This is a fantastic choice and I love your favourites. The red one steals the show for me.
