The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!
This week’s theme: Dressed to kill.
I’m showcasing a series this week, and I think it works really well with the theme this week. Charlaine Harris’s Gunnie Rose series is about Lizbeth, a gun for hire, and she’s got a couple of cool outfits on these covers, I have to say! Take a look:
An Easy Death (Book #1): Saga Press 2018 edition | Piatkus 2019 edition
A Longer Fall (Book #2): Saga Press 2020 edition | Saga Press 2020 paperback edition
The Russian Cage (Book #3): Saga Press 2021 edition | Platinum Spotlight 2021 edition
I think the cover that best describes “dressed to kill” has got to be the Platinum Spotlight edition, so that’s my favorite!
All these covers are so good and make me want to pick up the book. I especially like the 2018 An Easy Death because of the stormy backdrop.
Priscilla Bettis recently posted…A Shakespearean August
Me too! It’s also the best book of the three:-)
I like the common design (silhouettes) of the Saga Press 2020 paperback for book 2 and the Saga Press 2021 cover for book 3, with the book 3 cover being my favorite.
That is a well done cover:-)
This is perfect for the theme! I really like the Saga Press edition, but they have such a different vibe than the other ones-it always makes me think it’s a straight sci-fi for some reason!
It is weirdly a sci fi cover, lol. It’s totally fantasy, though.
My favorite is Piatkus 2019 edition! And dressed to kill perfectly fits with all of these. 😀
It was actually a fun theme!
I love that first one for An Easy Death!
I do too, I’m not crazy about the cover redesign to be honest…
All have pretty cool covers! I just read An Easy Death this year and need to continue before I forget to much…lol.
It’s a pretty good series. The first book is the best, though:-)
I really like the Saga Press editions best I think.
Me too:-)
Why didn’t I think of this one – it’s a great choice and I love your favourite – it has such a dark, edgy feel to it.
Lynn 😀
I thought your choice was great too!
Oooh, nice choice for this one! I haven’t read the Gunnie Rose series yet, but my library has all the left covers, and I’ve always thought they were pretty. The first one has always been my favorite, because I just think she looks hella fierce there!
