The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!
This week’s theme: the Motel
I think I’ve done a similar theme before, but it wasn’t hard to find another book. I chose one I haven’t read, but it’s definitely on my TBR: The Sun Down Motel by Simone St. James. Take a look at these covers:
U.S. Berkley edition 2020 | German edition 2021
Croatian edition 2020 | Large print edition 2020 | Hungarian edition 2021
There are some pretty good covers for this book! I love the creepiness of the German, Large print and Hungarian editions, but I think the best cover is the Berkley one:
I really like this theme! Although I think all three of them suit the book well, the Berkley one stands out more in my opinion. Also, I’m curious about the book now!
Me too Silvia, I really want to read it!
I like the U.S. Berkley edition 2020 the most as well!
That’s the one I’m the most familiar with, maybe that’s why I like it.
Oh interesting, I definitely agree with you. The large print and Hungarian ones stand out but.. not as book covers I just like the images.

Me too!
I’m torn here. I like the nostalgic feel of the Berkley one, but like you, I like the creepiness to the German edition. And not having read the book I’ve no clue which is a better match to the story.
That’s the problem I’m having too, I haven’t read it yet:-)
I like the US one but love the creepiness of the German one!
Yes me too, love the creepy ones:-)
I love thatfirst one 🙂

Yep me too:-)
The Berkley cover is my favorite too, but I also really like how atmospheric and eerie the Hungarian one is.

I agree! I love the atmospheric covers too.
This is also the one I would have chosen! I loved that story!
I need to read it, everyone seems to love it!
I think three of us used this one this week – and shared the same favourite too.
