This week’s theme: A book cover with too much going on.
I think you can have a chaotic cover that’s still really good, and that’s how I feel about my pick this week, Zoo City by Lauren Beukes. I really like a couple of these covers, but there is a lot going on, lol. Take a look:
Angry Robot edition (U.S./UK) 2010 | Angry Robot Kindle edition 2011
Russian edition 2011 | Hungarian edition 2012
The Russian edition in particular is what prompted me to choose this book. You have to admit that is one crazy cover! I really love both Angry Robot covers, and I think the one I own is the first one, so it’s a bit sentimental. But my favorite is definitely the Hungarian edition. It’s stylish and conveys the story really well, and it’s not as over the top as the Russian edition. Although that tiny title and author font aren’t good at all, I’m not sure why the publisher thought that was a good idea! But the artwork? Big “yes” from me.
I very much like the Angry Robot Kindle edition of 2011. The letters draw me really in!

I love that one too, it’s pretty clever:-)
I like the Kindle edition because I can recognize what it is from quite a distance, and I think recognizing a book from afar is as important as the upclose aesthetics.

Good point! I do like that one too.
I really like the Angry Robot Kindle edition. It’s simple and complicated all at the same time. 🙂
So true!
I would have chosen that cover too!
Great minds think alike;-)
Ahh, this is a great book for the topic and I love your choice because it really fits the story.
