Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
It’s been a whirlwind week and I’m trying to recover, lol. My daughter was visiting all week but she left yesterday and I’m so sad:-( I never get to spend much time with her as it is, and she’s a social butterfly and spent a big part of the week visiting friends. I get it but I wish she could stay another week! Then my oldest had their wisdom teeth out on Friday and that was a bit stressful, although it went much better than I expected. I’m hoping for a quiet week, to be honest!
Upcoming reviews:
I really pushed and got three reviews up last week, so this week I’m taking it easy and going for just two. Tomorrow I’ll have my review up for the very hyped The Ones We’re Meant to Find by Joan He. Spoiler alert: this book was confusing as hell and I was ultimately disappointed. Check back tomorrow and find out why! And I’ve just started reading The Shadow of the Gods by John Gwynne, and I’ll post my review later in the week, hopefully. So far I’m loving it!
Upcoming reads:
I’ve still got quite a few May review books to knock out, so this week I’ll be tackling We Are Satellites by Sarah Pinsker and Day Zero by C. Robert Cargill. Both are science fiction, so after that I’ll dive into another Wyrd & Wonder book, Jade City by Fonda Lee.
Other posts:
On Tuesday, don’t miss my interview with author Daryl Gregory! His new book The Album of Dr. Moreau is out this week, and I loved it. On Wednesday I’ve got some cool cover reveals to share on Future Fiction, The Friday Face-Off is “top hat,” and on Saturday I think I’m going to post my Quick Fire Fantasy Tag.
In case you missed:
Immunity Index by Sue Burke – Review 3/5 stars
The Friday Face-Off: First Fantasy
The Blacktongue Thief by Christopher Buehlman – Review 4.5/5 stars
Twelve Upcoming YA Fantasy Books to Get Excited About
The Album of Dr. Moreau by Daryl Gregory – Review 5/5 stars
Your upcoming reads look fun. That heron chick is SO pretty. Your husband takes amazing photos!

Thank you Priscilla! I love his bird photos so much:-)
Sounds like a real busy week, glad your daughter came to visit even if you didn’t get as much time as you would have liked! Your doing great with your review books! 🙂
Have a great week!
Stormi
Thanks Stormi, you too:-)
Glad to hear you had some family time even if not quite as much as you’d like. I remember getting my wisdom teeth out… not the best memory, but it really wasn’t as bad as I’d expected, either. I’ve only photographed young night herons once (don’t recall if it was black or yellow-crowned) and it was a thrill. I love that photo, such a great pose and I like the angled stance. And I find it absolutely fascinating how different the adults end up looking compared to the youth.
I’m not sure what the adult heron looks like, but this chick sure is a cutie!
I have probably said it before but I’m excited for your review of The Ones We’re Meant to Find even though you were disappointed. Still looking forward to hear your thoughts on it!

I’m excited! I hope I can read the others fast:-)
Busy busy week

Yay for Jade City! I’m getting through a quick small press sci-fi read, Goodbye to the Sun, then I’m jumping to my own backlist to read BEFORE THEY ARE HANGED by Joe Abercrombie. Happy Wyrd and Wonder!

It’s really good! I’m hooked:-)
I hope that your daughter will be back for another visit soon and that you’ll get to spend more time with her. That heron chick your hubby photographed is so cute. I love how stocky he looks compared to the lanky blue herons I usually see around here.
I think she’s coming back in August!
I can’t wait to see what you think of the Gwynne.
And I just adore your OH’s photographs.
Lynn 😀
Thanks Lynn!
