Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
Hope everyone had a good week! I’m happy to say I got my first vaccine this past week, and my only symptom was a sore arm for about two days, so not too bad. Although they didn’t give me a sticker and I really wanted one, lol. And that’s all my news!
Upcoming reviews:
I may try to sneak in a third review this week, but for now you can expect reviews for Mina and the Undead on Monday, and my blog tour review for Composite Creatures on Tuesday. Mina was just OK for me, I was really hoping I would love it, especially since it has so many five star reviews on Goodreads, but I had some issues. On the other hand, I loved Composite Creatures, although it’s very strange and it’s not going to be for everyone.
Upcoming reads:
I should be reading Near the Bone by the time this post goes live. I just read a glowing review from Lisa and she literally convinced me to read this next! After that, my next two books will be Eye of the Sh*t Storm and The Last Watch. There are SO many April releases this year and I’m going crazy trying to fit them all in!
The usual memes…
I have some cool new covers to share on Future Fiction on Wednesday, and the Friday Face-Off is “a cover that gives you grabby hands.”
In case you missed:
Here are my posts from last week:
Over-Booked – A Book Haul Post
The Friday Face-Off: Graphic/Cartoonish
Whisper Down the Lane by Clay McLeod Chapman – Review 4.5/5
Blog Tour – Birds of Paradise by Oliver Langmead – Read an Excerpt
Titan Song by Dan Stout – Review 4.5/5
Composite Creatures intrigued me since its first mention, so I will be on the lookout for your review: inquiring minds WANT to know, indeed! 🙂

It really surprised me, and I’m so glad I read it:-)
Yay for getting vaccinated! My dad finally has an appointment for the 28th, the first in my family. Dare I say things are finally moving along here…

I feel like things are moving in the right direction too:-)
The covers of the books for your next reviews are quite creepy, but eye-catching! And I am curious to know what you would think of The Last Watch!!
Me too Susy! I can’t wait to read The Last Watch.
My husband and I both got our first shots. I got a sticker, and he didn’t. Maybe it was my cute shark-themed, pink socks that did it.:-) Happy reading!
LOL I’m glad you got a sticker. I’m going to ask when I get my second shot:-)
I’m hoping for a lollipop 🙂
I’ve been curious about the Ford series.
Wishing you a great reading week
Ha ha a lollipop would be nice! Hope you have a great week too:-)
If you can read books about a horrible person that you really wish would die then you might like Near The Bone, but I am having trouble with it because if I can’t at least enjoy what is happening despite the horrible person then I can’t enjoy the story and that is how I am fairing right now with Near the Bone. 🙁 So I can’t wait to see what you think of it.
Have a great week and happy reading!!
I totally get it. I think I’m going to enjoy Near the Bone more than you, but I’ll have to wait until I get to the end.
I absolutely LOVE photographing green herons, and catching them in flight is the icing on the cake. Beautiful photograph from Moses! I’m looking forward to reading your thoughts on Composite Creatures. It’s a curious yet interesting cover and title.
Thank you Todd! Moses just got a new camera (I wish I could remember which one) and he’s been testing it out on birds in flight.
I love that fabulous photo by Moses – the green heron has AMAZING eyes:)). I’m intrigued by Composite Creatures, but looking at the cover, I’m guessing that my wussiness is going to prevent me from tucking into this one. Oh well.
Stickers??? Our vaccination programme is on an industrial scale – you join a moving queue and snake through a huge sports hall that has been repurposed. All the windows and doors are open and uniformed stewards are at hand to direct you to your vaccination station – and afterwards I had to skip out of the way and finish pulling on my cardi and coat on the way out, so I didn’t get sprayed with the antibac in readiness for the person after me… But they are getting the job done. Over 32 mill in the UK have had their first injection and nearly 7 mill have had both.
I hope you have a great week, Tammy:)).
The place I went to for my vaccine was nearly empty. I was the only one there! So strange. But here in the US, everyone is showing off their vaccine stickers on Facebook and I feel so left out, lol.
YAY for the vaccine. I was just glad to do drive thru and on a day which wasn’t raining. I loved that it was very quick and efficient. We got vaccine cards. April has a lot of great releases and it seems like every month does, especially when I enjoy so many genres.

It seems like a particularly good year for new books, right?
Enjoy The Last Watch, it’s a fun ride!

Thanks, I can’t wait!
Both of the books you’re going to post reviews for are ones that sounded good to me, so I’ll be sure to check those reviews out. Glad your side effects from the first shot weren’t that bad. A sore arm is about all I had too. Hope you have a good week!

Thanks Lisa!
Thanks for the shout-out! I can’t wait to hear what you think of Near the Bone! I really do need to read the Jackson Ford books sometime soon — I have the first one, and just haven’t gotten around to it yet. Have a great week!
I really had fun with Near the Bone!
I’m glad to hear your first shot went well. I can’t wait to read your review for the Christina Henry book. I still need to read her last one, but I’m honestly more excited for this one and will probably read it first.
It was really good! Such a quick read, I blew through it in a day and a half:-)
Excited to see what you’ll make of Near the Bone!
I really liked it! Better than her last book, in my opinion.
Whoot, congrats on your vaccine! I haven’t read anything by Christina Henry but that cover for Near the Bone really caught my eye…
It was pretty good, and very suspenseful:-)
I love the picture of the heron.
And you wanting a sticker made me smile.
Lynn 😀
