The Friday Face-Off – “Magic” Is the Word

The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!

This week’s theme: A book with the word “magic” in the title.

It turns out “magic” is a very popular word used in fantasy books, and so today I’m doing a montage of a bunch of books with “magic” in the title. Some I’ve read, and some are on my TBR, take a look:

Have you read any of these books?

  1. Magic may be in the title of a lot of fantasy books but it appears that doesn’t mean I’ve read a lot of fantasy books with magic in the title. 🙂 One of my favorite early fantasy books when very young was Master of the Five Magics by Lyndon Hardy. I’ve always wanted to reread it to see how well it would hold up.

  2. Excellent collection for this week’s FFO. And I see you’ve added the Seat of Magic, which is great because it is one of those underrated gems. I like the cover for Magic Dark and Strange the best for me, because it really makes me want to read the book.

  3. Great picks! I loved The Seat of Magic–as you probably know Cheney is one of my favorite authors. 🙂 I really should get back to that Snyder series at some point but I just felt very meh on Poison Study when I read it years ago. Maybe I should try again….
