The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!
This week’s theme: A book with the word “magic” in the title.
It turns out “magic” is a very popular word used in fantasy books, and so today I’m doing a montage of a bunch of books with “magic” in the title. Some I’ve read, and some are on my TBR, take a look:
Lots of covers this week! Aaaand I have read none of them… But I see a few that I’ve been wanting to read so that’s something at least 😛

So many books! And not a single one I read… But I believe there’s a remedy for that 😉
I particularly like the covers for A Criminal Magic and City of Broken Magic…

Magic may be in the title of a lot of fantasy books but it appears that doesn’t mean I’ve read a lot of fantasy books with magic in the title. 🙂 One of my favorite early fantasy books when very young was Master of the Five Magics by Lyndon Hardy. I’ve always wanted to reread it to see how well it would hold up.
I added The Seat of Magic to my TBR. Never saw this series. Looks good.
So many nice covers! I’ve only read three of those so far.
A lovely selection of MAGIC covers, Tammy:). I’ve read 3 of the above – but there are more I’d like to tuck into!
It definitely is popular! Seeing Unnatural Magic reminds me that I need to read Waggoner’s most recent release still. The only other one I’ve read on this list is A Darker Shade of Magic!

Excellent collection for this week’s FFO. And I see you’ve added the Seat of Magic, which is great because it is one of those underrated gems. I like the cover for Magic Dark and Strange the best for me, because it really makes me want to read the book.
I really enjoyed A Darker Shade of Magic (I should read the rest of the series) and Magic for Beginners. I liked Magic Bites.

A Criminal Magic would have been amazing to use because I love that cover – I did check though, but I think there weren’t enough to feature for this meme 🙂
Great picks! I loved The Seat of Magic–as you probably know Cheney is one of my favorite authors. 🙂 I really should get back to that Snyder series at some point but I just felt very meh on Poison Study when I read it years ago. Maybe I should try again….
I have read A Darker Shade of Magic yes! But VE Schwab is not it for me.
Great display. The Rules of Magic immediately stands out for me – and I love the book too.
Lynn 😀
Can’t lie, there really is A LOT of MAGIC being thrown around in titles hahahah Can’t blame anyone either. Such an eye-catching word! 😀

I haven’t read any of these books but I do own the VE Schwab book and one day I may even read it!
