Buffy’s Corner 11/8/20 – Looking at the Week Ahead

Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D

I had to edit this post, because I wrote it before the election was called, but I think I can speak for most people and say it’s a HUGE relief to not only have the election over, but to be happy with the results. I’m hoping Biden & Harris move the country forward in the best ways, and give us back all the hope we lost over the last four years. I’m still posting these hilarious election memes I found, because they’ve brought me a lot of laughter in the last few days, enjoy!

And this is hysterical!

One more, I swear. I tried to embed this video, but it’s too big, so PLEASE click on this link and check it out, I laughed for about fifteen minutes straight!!

Now on to the serious stuff:

Upcoming reviews:

So I had a pretty bad reading week, how about you? The election really distracted me and I had a hard time focusing. As I write this, I’m only about halfway through How the Multiverse Got Its Revenge, but I’m pushing to get a review up on Thursday. So far I’m not enjoying it quite as much as the first book, the setting is different and it’s much more technically focused and I’m really missing the fun character interactions from How Rory Thorne Destroyed the Multiverse. But there is still a lot of book left, so we’ll see.

So today I plan on taking a break from Rory and will zip through a short novella, The Factory Witches of Lowell. Hopefully I can get a review up tomorrow!

Upcoming reads:

The Children of Red Peak is up next, and after that I’d like to get in a couple of books that have upcoming release dates. Even though I’m chomping at the bit to read The Call of the Bone Ships, I’m trying to read things in order, sort of. The Rush’s Edge comes out Tuesday, and Eight Cylinders is a short novella that’s being released this week as well.

The usual memes…

On Tuesday, stop by and check out 12 Young Adult Science Fiction Books to Read in 2021, I think it’s a pretty good list! Wednesday I have four new SF books to share on Future Fiction, The Friday Face-Off is “bright”, and on Saturday, please come by and see my next batch of self-published SF authors in my Self Published Sci-Fi Saturday post!

In case you missed…

  1. I’d not heard of The Factory Witches of Lowell. That sounds like an interesting and different take on witchcraft in Massachusetts. Hope it’s a good one!

I will be posting my review tomorrow, Todd. I liked it, but didn’t love it. But hey, it happens:-)

  2. I can’t say I am happy with the results, but I secured my right to gripe by voting if I feel the next four years tank. I have thoughts but I don’t like to get political and nothing I say can change anything.

Anyway hope you have a great reading week!

Exactly, it was such a wonderful thing for marginalized Americans, and hopefully the next four years will be productive:-)

  3. I was on pins and needles the whole week and I am not even living in the US! For the first time since I created my blog I wrote something about politics today, that says it all… Stay safe Tammy and have a great week!

Thanks Sophie! I love what you wrote, I didn’t even realize that people in other countries cared, but it’s nice to see they do:-)

  4. Love that meme! I hope I don’t gain any more this year but the last 6 months have been bad. I am happy with the election results and hope things can move forward a bit but I’m worried about the partisan gridlock still being a problem. For now, I’m just relieved. Have a wonderful week with some great reading!

  5. I was so happy I actually got a copy of The Rush’s Edge! I hope I get some time to fit it in this month!

And I really don’t want to sound like a wet blanket, but I personally am not going to breath a sigh of relief until the state boards certify the election (not the media). What I’m hearing is that it will go to the court because of all the anomalies in the swing states. It is making me so tense, so hopefully things will work out.

I still feel pretty good about the election. I doubt he’ll be able to pull anything off at this point:-P

I’ve finished it and it was actually pretty good! Not as good as the first book, but I thought the ending was really solid.

It actually ended up fine! I’m giving it 4 stars. It had a really strong ending which brought my rating up.

  6. I am feeling some relief in the fact that the election stuff is dying down. Now to make it to January. Looks like you have a lot of good books coming up and hey, I totally understand being distracted. I started November strong but it’s since faded off.

I’ve really got way too many books to read this month, so I just need to stop worrying and read what I can, lol.
