Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
Hope everyone is doing well! I took Friday off so I’m having a nice long weekend, and getting in lots of reading time. It’s super hot here, up in the 90s, which is way too hot for me, although it’s summer so I guess this is normal.
Let’s start with a progress report on my library project. It’s been a rather slow week. My son’s enthusiasm for the job is waning, and we’ve only managed to get through the letter J so far. And yes, my house is a mess right now and pretty much every room looks like this one. There are just over 1500 books shelved in the photo above, I’ll bet you’re wondering where the rest of K-Z will go once these shelves are full. Yeah, I’ll let you know…
I love these two photos my hubby took this past week. He calls this “Ebony and Ivory.”
Upcoming reviews:
Deal with the Devil was a lot of fun! Yes, it’s a bit on the melodramatic side and yes, it’s definitely a romance, and yes, there are some questionable plot developments. But I had fun reading it and that’s what counts. Look for my review tomorrow:-D And I’m still in the middle of Wonderland by Zoje Stage, but I hope to have a review up on Thursday. I’m loving this very creepy tale of a family who decides to move to a remote house so the husband can finally realize his dream of becoming an artist. It’s that subtle kind of horror/suspense that I love!
Upcoming reads:
I still have some July review books I’d love to finish off, but on the other hand I need to start reading August books because, well, it’s August:-) Ashes of the Sun is probably up next, and then I’d love to get to A Chorus of Fire and Automatic Reload after that.
The usual memes…
This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is Books with Colors in the Title, and that sounds like fun! I’ll definitely be throwing a post together for that. Look for three new Future Fiction picks on Wednesday, and the Friday Face-Off this week is “action.” I’ll probably be posting a book haul post on Saturday, since it’s been a month since my last one, whoops.
In case you missed…
My posts last week:
Random Sh*t Flying Through the Air by Jackson Ford – Review
Ten New Additions to my Goodreads TBR
Flyaway by Kathleen Jennings – Review
The Friday Face-Off – White Cover
What’s On My Plate – August 2020
wOW, that’s a lot of books. Good luck with the rest of the organizing. Wonderland is on my TBR. I’ve been reading the reviews. It sounds like if you don’t enjoy slow burns you won’t enjoy Wonderland. Fortunately, slow burns are a-okay with me.:-)

The reviews for Wonderland are literally all over the place, lol. But I really enjoyed it. Very weird and definitely not for everyone. I have a feeling you might like it, though.
With all those books still to be shelved, you might need Tardis-like bookcases! 😉

Oooh I like that idea!
You’re getting there!
I’m looking forward to your review of Deal with the Devil. It sounds loke a lot of fun.
It was a lot of fun!
Sorry to hear the enthusiasm for the shelving project is waning, but it looks great so far and progress has been made! Perfect set of matching photos from your husband. I’m looking forward to hearing more about Wonderland, though I think your couple of sentences here might be enough for me to be sure it’s in my TBR. 🙂
I just finished Wonderland and it was weird! But I like weird so it worked for me. Maybe I’ll be able to convince you to read it:-)
When I grow up (I am grown up) I will have a full wall of bookshelves, somewhere. Where we’re living now I keep designating random areas as book spaces that are constantly overflowing.
I always say “our next house is going to have a proper library” but who knows when or if that next house will ever happen.
I love your shelves! I desperately need at least one other bookshelves because I’m running out of book space but I don’t have room for it in my little apartment. It’s so sad. 🙁

I feel the same way about my little house. I guess you just never have enough room wherever you are…
Well well well, you son is working hard Tammy! And I love these black adn white pictures of your husband! Have a great week.
Thanks Sophie:-)
And this is why I went to digital. I have 19 overflowing bookcases. Well they are better. I got rid of a few things before the move last summer. I think it’s too hot but it’s usually only in the 90s for about a month and we are halfway through.
I loved Deal with the Devil too. Not everything about reviewing can be objective. There are some books which are just fun.

I only do digital for NetGalley copies, but for my own purchases I always buy a physical copy. I guess old habits die hard…
So many books! They look awesome on those big shelves! And a red couch, I love it! Your husband’s photos are so cool.

Wow, good luck with your library project! Are you doing alphabetically by author? My shelves could use a serious reorganization. I’d originally organized roughly by genre, but at this point it’s more about size and where I can make them fit!
Yes, alphabetically by author! I’m actually very happy, I’m rediscovering books I haven’t seen in years.
Oh my goodness – WHAT a massive task! I can understand why your son is flagging a bit – all that done and only on J – and in that heat, too… But my heart goes out to you – if your house is like mine, most rooms have books stacked up somewhere… It’s been a good reading week for you, as ever – and as ever, you have some cool reads coming up! Hope the coming week is a good one, Tammy:)
Thanks Sarah! I’m sure when this whole thing is done, I’ll STILL have stacks of books everywhere, because of a lack of bookshelves:-)
That was a hard task to undertake and with that many books already shelved I can see how his enthusiasm would be waning some…lol. Can’t wait to see what you think of those two books your reviewing this week!! 🙂
Have a great week and happy reading!
Stormi
Yeah, poor kid probably would rather be doing a job involving the computer. Oh well, money is money!
Oh wow! The shelves are looking great. I know it’s quite a task though.
Thanks! Yes, it’s overwhelming, but it HAS to be done:-)
Hope your long weekend is going well! And good luck with the library project too! It can be overwhelming redoing shelves but it will be awesome when it’s done, right?
Love the pics!

Yes, I keep reminding myself, “It will be awesome!!” lol
Wow, that is a lot of books, but the shelves look awesome! Those are my dream shelves. I hope you’re able to find the enthusiasm to get them filled. Have a great week!

I also recently finished Deal with the Devil. I probably liked it less than you 😛 I mean, it was fun, but I thought it had too much romance with writing which leaned heavily towards physical attraction and not much emotion. Normally I wouldn’t have a problem with that, but the book description did not prepare me well for that much romance and I just get grumpy whenever I get something I didn’t sign up for 😛

I read somewhere that it was definitely romance, so I was prepared for that part of it.
Lol, I feel your pain with regards to shelving!
Wishing you a great reading week and cooler weather

Yep kids get excited then quickly lose interest, my daughters I’ve resorted to paying bribery to get them to do anything! Hopefully you’ll get them all shelved soon.

I’m sure it will get done, I just wish he were doing it a little faster, lol.
What does your husband do for a living? Those photos are gorgeous!!! As for your home-library-clean-up… Holy moly! I can’t imagine where all the books are at!!! 😮 I hope to have half the library you got in my life too! 😛

My husband works for NBC Universal for a day job, but he is a professional photographer on the side:-)
Oh wow, I hope your son regains his motivation because he has a lonnnnnngggg way to go, lol. Loving the ebony-ivory photos. Your hubby really does have such a great eye for photos.
I know, I’m getting a little worried. I’ve started to help him:-)
Tammy, I love the progress, I hope your son doesn’t give up though haha. 🙂
I love your shelves! This is a very worthy project you guys have started. 🙂
Your shelves are going to be amazing.
And I love the pictures, Ebony and Ivory and the way you’ve placed them is like a love heart.
Happy reading.
Lynn 😀
