The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!
This week’s theme: Silhouette – A cover with any kind of silhouette.
This was a fairly easy prompt and luckily I found a good example right away. Vengeful by V.E. Schwab is the sequel to Vicious, and these two books still hold a special place on my bookshelf. Also, there are lots of good covers for both books, but today I’m focusing on Vengeful. Take a look:
U.S. Tor Books edition 2018 | UK Titan edition 2018
Indonesian edition 2019 | French edition 2019
German edition 2020 | Illumicrate exclusive edition 2018
Russian edition 2019 | Spanish edition 2019
Wow, I literally love all of these, so choosing is very hard! I probably would have picked the German edition, if it weren’t for the ugly yellow sticker on the bottom. So instead, I’m choosing the Indonesian cover, which although not as badass as some of the other covers, is really lovely:
Oooo I like the Spanish edition the most, I think! Just love the blue and black colors + the detailing. Very nice!

I like the Russian one the most. 🙂
They are wonderful covers . . . um . . . I like the Spanish cover the best because of the tiny, creepy things (like the voodoo doll) and the symmetry.

Yes, the German edition is the best-looking one, but that yellow sticker does spoil the overall effect: they could have done equally well by keeping to the color scheme of the rest of the cover…

I like the Spanish cover
I love all of these, but I really like the French and Illumincrate editions. Thanks for sharing!
I like the French version. She has this look like she knows something.

Red white and black is definitely a good color scheme for this series, though looks like the Spanish edition decided to do its own thing 😛 I think the first one’s my favorite, because of familiarity!
They are all wonderful covers! But my favorite is the French one!
I’ve never seen a cover for these books that I didn’t like. They’re all gorgeous! My fave is the French 2019 one though, I’d never seen that one!
I didn’t know this one had so many covers. I like a lot of them.
Oh, I really loved the one you went with, never saw that cover for it before!
I love your choice. I don’t know what it is about it that appeals to me – maybe it looks a little retro somehow? – anyway, that was immediately my favourite one.
