The Friday Face-Off: Glittery/Sparkling

The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!

This week’s theme: The festive season – a cover that is glittery or sparkling.

I immediately thought of Stephanie Garber’s Caraval for the theme this week. Many of the covers have a glittery aspect to them, and I think Garber’s writing is also sparkling! Although Caraval wasn’t my favorite book, and I decided not to continue with the series, I love some of these covers, take a look:

U.S, hardcover edition 2017 | UK hardcover edition 2017

UK paperback 2017 | Dutch edition 2016

Serbian edition 2017 | Polish edition 2017

Romanian edition 2017 | Japanese edition 2017

Russian edition 2017 | Chinese edition 2018

For me, it’s a toss-up between the UK hardcover and the Chinese edition. Both have lovely sparkle to them! I also love the Russian and Polish editions, but I know I need to choose a favorite. Ultimately, I’m choosing the Chinese edition, simply because it really does a great job showing the magical ambiance of this story:

But let me know which one is your favorite:-D

  1. Oh this is a fabulous choice for this week’s theme, Tammy! I reckoned you have nailed this one… And what a beautiful set of covers – to the extent that I can’t call it. I’m going with a draw between the UK hardcover edition and that wonderful Chinese edition.

  2. I like that first one although the Serbian edition has me curious! And actually now that I look a little closer I do like that Chinese edition a lot! I like it when cover illos show scenes from the book, which I assume that one is sorta doing.
