The Friday Face-Off: Gray Cover

The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!

This week’s theme: A cover that is predominantly gray.

I love these color themes, because I love finding as many covers in that color as I can to share with you. This is a great theme for the first day in November, which seems like it should be a gray, cool and blustery day (although it’s probably 90 degrees where I live!). Here is a selection of gray covers to put you in the mood:

Grays are tricky. Some of them are really blue, and others look brown. But I think all of these could be considered gray. I can’t say I have a favorite this week, but let me know if one of these catches your eye!

  1. Wow, this one is a long list of covers. I think I have to pick The Mirror Empire as my favorite. I just love Richard Anderson’s artwork. He’s been doing some amazing covers, like Kings of the Wyld, the Time Salvager series by Wesley Chu, a number of books by Brian Staveley. If only I’d actually read any of the books he’s created covers for…. I’ll change that eventually, promise! đŸ™‚

  2. I know right?! There are so many grey covers that it’s hard to decide. Picking one out of a bunch seems like the better way to go. You and I think the same way this week. Unfortunately, I haven’t heard any of these but I would choose Peter MacLean’s Priest of Bones. I like the sword. PS: I hope Halloween was fantastic for you and I ‘m so glad my blog is still accessible đŸ˜›

  3. Oh my goodness! You’ve knocked it out of the park this week, Tammy:)). What a fantastic selection. As for favourites – Miranda and Caliban has to be there, simply because it is such a searingly beautiful book… My second choice is The Drowning Eyes because it’s such a lovely cover.

I like most of these… but I’m especially intrigued by The Atrocities. Haven’t heard of it or seen it before so I’ll have to check it out!

  5. Great collection of covers!! I think I like the Drowning Eyes best! And I had the same problem, I kept finding books that were kind of grey but then I decided they were more of a blue haha

Can’t believe I missed this. What a fantastic collection of covers. I love it. Girls With Sharp sticks immediately jumps out at me.
