Are You Ready for BONES Season 10? How About CASTLE Season 7?

Bones Season 10

I can’t believe my beloved TV show Bones is heading into its tenth season! Now, like many long-running TV shows, it’s had its ups and downs. Bones has become increasingly message heavy in the last few seasons, much to my dismay. (Dammit, I’m watching for entertainment’s sake, not to mention getting to stare at David Boreanaz, T.J. Thyne, and John Francis Daley for an hour each week!) It feels like every episode has become a vehicle to shine a light on a cause that needs some attention—identity theft, various diseases, depression, cancer—rather than putting the focus where it needs to be: on the story and the characters. Nonetheless, I still love my Bones, since I’ve been watching it faithfully since the very beginning.

In case you’re not up to speed, last season this happened (please note: if you are squeamish, beware! Graphic depictions of dead bodies ahead! You have been warned!):

There was quite a lot of drama at the end, and I don’t want to spoil it if you’re just catching up on Season 9, but I can’t wait to see what happens next:-) The new season premieres on Thursday September 25th!

Castle Season 7And then there’s the awesome Castle, which also ended on a horrible cliff hanger! I couldn’t find an “official” promo video for Season 7, but I did find this video which isn’t bad and shows how Season 6 wrapped up:

And I wouldn’t want to leave out my “boys” from Castle: Seamus Dever, Jon Huertas, and of course, Nathan Fillion:-)

Castle Season 7 premiers on Monday, September 29th! Do you watch either (or both) of these shows? What did you think of the season cliffhangers??

  1. I used to LOVE both of these shows but have become increasingly frustrated with them in last few seasons. They seem to be stuck in a rut and the character arcs are non-existent! It makes me sad. 🙁

  2. I loved Bones’s first seasons – they all were crazy (except Bones !) and doing crazy experiments. Now they’re all having babies and getting so much wiser…
I’m still watching Castle. I liked that in spite of both main characters falling in love, the characters’ interactions was still pretty good, with main characters as well as the others. So I’ll be watching next season 😉

    • It’s so hard to keep a TV show great for so many seasons. Not all shows get it right. There have definitely been lots of hits and misses with Bones, but I think Castle is doing a pretty good job of staying consistent.

I actually don’t want either one of these shows but have caught the occasional Castle re-run and I really like that show. I had no idea there were so many seasons out for each or I’d consider attempting to catch up. lol

  4. Yeah, I stopped watching Bones because it got as you said, “message heavy” and also, once the show got entangled in too much drama I drifted away. I initially got into the show for the forensic anthropology (studied it in college) and I read the Kathy Reich books! But even though it turned out to be nothing like I expected, I loved the characters and humor 🙂

    • I love the forensic parts of the show, too. Although I tried to read a Kathy Reichs book after having watched Bones, and I was disappointed at how different it was from the show. One of those cases where you should probably read the book first:-)

  5. These are my two favorite shows. I truly dislike when the writers begin touting their “causes” and forget that the viewers (especially the two of us, right??) want to be entertained.

    • Yay Michelle! This may be the last season of Bones, so I hope the writers get off that “causes” kick and just do some really good story telling.

  6. You know I stopped watching Bones a few years ago right before my son was born – I ended on the season when they find that dead body over their bed and that the one dude is back – i forget his name it’s been so long LOL. When I realized they were pulling him back into the mix again I just got bored with it.

    • Yeah, I know what you mean. Bones has seriously deteriorated over the past few years. But I’m so in the habit, I feel like I’ve invested too much time to stop watching now, LOL!

    • OMG you would love Castle. Nathon is hilarious (and actually the entire cast is pretty amazing). The writing is TOP NOTCH and has perfect comedic timing.

I actually cried at the end of Castle last season. I am sure that they will someone manage something exciting and thrilling as a cover for the ending…. Or else. >.< As far as Bones goes, I was a sporadic Bones watcher, (another show I watched was on at the same time) and it wasn't until Netflix that I was able to get caught up and watch them from beginning to end in the correct order that I came to love the show. With the advent of watching full episodes on the network (or Hulu) I haven't had to miss an episode in the last couple of years. I usually devote one of my days off to playing catch up on all my Must Watch TV shows, including these two.

    • I wasn’t fooled at all by the Castle ending (I mean come on, they’re going to kill off the lead character?? I don’t think so.) but it was dramatic and it will be interesting to see what happens.

  8. OMG. I LOVE BONES!!! Booth and Brennan remainq my favorite TV couple. I ship them so bad that I sometimes watch reruns just because I miss their banters and smoldering looks and… yeah of course the cases are interesting too! Lol
