Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. I love the cover of this book, which is one reason I picked it:
After the End by Amy Plum. Release date: May 6 2014 (Harper Children’s). Don’t you love the cover? And do you see the wolves?? I really want to read a story with wolves. Although I have to admit, the title may get confused with Demitria Lunetta’s In the After and In the End, right? Here’s the description from Goodreads:
World War III has left the world ravaged by nuclear radiation. A lucky few escaped to the Alaskan wilderness. They’ve survived for the last thirty years by living off the land, being one with nature, and hiding from whoever else might still be out there.
At least, this is what Juneau has been told her entire life.
When Juneau returns from a hunting trip to discover that everyone in her clan has vanished, she sets off to find them. Leaving the boundaries of their land for the very first time, she learns something horrifying: There never was a war. Cities were never destroyed. The world is intact. Everything was a lie.
Now Juneau is adrift in a modern-day world she never knew existed. But while she’s trying to find a way to rescue her friends and family, someone else is looking for her. Someone who knows the extraordinary truth about the secrets of her past.
I know that dystopian has been done to death, but I still enjoy reading that genre, especially if I can find a really good one.
What are you waiting on this week?
Great pick, I completely agree that dystopian has been done to death but this sounds like it might be a bit different – fingers crossed and I can’t wait to read it!
I really like Amy Plum’s Revenants series, so I’m eager to see what she does with something different. And wolves! Great choice, Tammy.
Gah, I love that cover and the book sounds amazing too! Great pick!
I loved Amy’s Die For Me series, so I cannot wait to read this book! It sounds spectacular, and it doesn’t hurt that the cover is amazing! I feel like Harper’s cover keeping getting more and more fabulous 😀
