Waiting on Wednesday #24 – GHOST PLANET by Sharon Fisher

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine, and is a great way for bloggers to share the books they are waiting on. This week I’m waiting on:

Ghost Planet by Sharon Lynn Fisher. Release date: October 30 2012 (Tor Science Fiction). Aliens in the form of ghosts, in space? Yes!  I love the sound of this storyline, and the cover is beautiful too. Here’s the Goodreads description:

Psychologist Elizabeth Cole prepared for the worst when she accepted a job on a newly discovered world—a world where every colonist is tethered to an alien who manifests in the form of a dead loved one. But she never expected she’d struggle with the requirement to shun these “ghosts.” She never expected to be so attracted to the charming Irishman assigned as her supervisor. And she certainly never expected to discover she died in a transport crash en route to the planet.

As a ghost, Elizabeth is symbiotically linked to her supervisor, Murphy—creator of the Ghost Protocol, which forbids him to acknowledge or interact with her. Confused and alone—oppressed by her ghost status and tormented by forbidden love—Elizabeth works to unlock the secrets of her own existence.

But her quest for answers lands her in a tug-of-war between powerful interests, and she soon finds herself a pawn in the struggle for control of the planet…a struggle that could separate her forever from the man that she loves.

Doesn’t this sound amazing? I’m a little hazy on the publishing details of Ghost Planet. It says “First time in print” on the cover, which leads me to believe it’s been released in digital form before. In any case, I can’t wait to read it. What are you waiting on this week?

  1. Haven’t heard too much about this one yet, but I love the cover. I’ve been liking all these new romantic sci-fi books that are cropping up. Hope you enjoy it when you get the chance to read it!

  2. Wow, thanks so much for highlighting GHOST PLANET in Waiting On Wednesday! To answer your question, this is the first publication of the novel in both print and digital formats. I believe they included the “first time in print” label because it is debuting in mass market paperback format (rather than hard cover or trade). The eARC is available through NetGalley if you are interested. Thank you again!

@Ann – I know, I hate spoilers too! I wish there had been a way to set up the story without giving this part away. I think it has a lot more impact when it’s a surprise.
