Book Review Giveaway – Win a Book I Reviewed In July

I started my Book Review Giveaway for two reasons: one, I wanted more people to read my reviews. Most bloggers I know bemoan the fact that even though book reviews are the main reason they blog, readers gravitate towards more “exciting” posts like memes, lists, giveaways, and discussions. Two, I wanted to put one of the books I’ve read each month in the hands of someone who’s really excited to read it. I stopped doing it because I just needed a break. Well, the break is over! Here’s how my giveaway works:

  • Each month around the 15th, I’ll post the giveaway, featuring all the books I reviewed the previous month. (sort of like a wrap-up post, but with bonus content!)
  • I’ll leave links to my reviews because I want you to read them if you haven’t!
  • The giveaway will run for two weeks, until the end of the month, at which point I’ll randomly choose a winner.
  • **Bonus: If I manage to post EIGHT reviews in a month, I will choose TWO winners! (That’s gonna be hard, my average is 6-7)
  • The giveaway is INTERNATIONAL, provided The Book Depository ships to your country.
  • No substitutions! If you win and you’ve already read the books, or you just don’t like the sound of any, then I suggest you don’t enter. This giveaway is pretty specific and this is one rule I’m strict with. I usually post a variety of books, both adult and YA, in lots of genres, so hopefully there will be something that interests you.
  • I use Rafflecopter for my giveaways, and there are multiple ways to enter. You don’t have to have a Twitter account to participate!

Congrats to last month’s winner, Sammie B! Sammie chose The Girl in Red:-D

July was a really good month, even though I only reviewed six books, I loved all them except one, and that ONE is loved by just about everyone else but me:-D This month, I’m adding a short blurb for each book to whet your appetite. Here are my July books (click on the book titles to read the full review):

Wanderers by Chuck Wendig. The nitty-gritty: Thought-provoking, violent, and ultimately hopeful, Wanderers thrills and terrifies in equal measure.

Salvation Day by Kali Wallace. The nitty-gritty: A thrilling story set in space with elements of horror and mystery, well-drawn characters, and even a cautionary message or two.

The Saturday Night Ghost Club by Craig Davidson. The nitty-gritty: Thought provoking, emotionally satisfying and unforgettable, Craig Davidson has written a coming-of-age story that delivers on multiple levels.

Velocity Weapon by Megan E. O’Keefe. The nitty-gritty: Ambitious in scope, with thrilling action and plenty of surprises along the way, Velocity Weapon was a blast from start to finish.

The Survival of Molly Southbourne by Tade Thompson. The nitty-gritty: Another strange and bloody tale, part horror, part sci-fi, and one hundred percent WTF.

This is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar & Max Gladstone. The nitty-gritty: Decadent writing and lush imagery make this a feast for the senses, but as a story it didn’t quite work for me, I’m sad to say.

Happy Giveaway Day! Ive been wanting to get into The Wanderers, heard many good things, & want to see if I agree

  2. I be glad ye linked to yer reviews because somehow I missed three of them! Inconceivable! Glad ye had a good reading month. I be struggling with the time war book too. I actually returned it to the library unfinished because I kept putting it down to read other things. I went back on the waitlist so I can finish it. All the five star ratings are confusing me so far. But maybe second time be the charm.

The Captain recently posted…The Captain’s Log – world of the five gods series (Lois McMaster Bujold) – with one 19 in 2019 book!My Profile

I didn’t follow directions (cause I be a pirate!) – the molly southbourne book of course!

I’d be happy to get any of these books, but if I had to choose, I’d take the one you liked best (Wanderers). Your reviews always are helpful.

I don’t keep as current as a lot of people but my favorite book that I read in July was Half-Broke Horses by Jeanette Walls.
