The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!
This week’s theme: “Beware the moon, lads.” – A cover with a shapeshifter.
So I’m going with a classic: the werewolf! And because there are so many books to choose from, I decided to go with Stephen King, who is always a good choice for a Friday Face-Off because his books have so many covers to choose from! This week I’m featuring Cycle of the Werewolf, one of King’s lesser-known novels. And there are plenty of cool covers to choose from, take a look:
U.S. 1985 Signet edition | Portuguese edition 1983
Polish edition 2004 | Polish edition 2015
Turkish edition 2016 | Dutch edition 1995
Spanish edition 1998 | Hungarian edition 1985
Another week that’s tough to choose a favorite:-D But although I’m fond of the US edition, because that’s the one I have, I really love the Hungarian edition:
Oh my, some of these are so cheesy 😀 😀
I remember borrowing this book from the library when i was in school – so i actually got the lovely hungarian edition with the poor werewolf who just looks so cold, i wanna lend him a cardigan… 😀
I think i kinda like the first one with the black / pink the most.
Turkish edition has some serious James Bond vibes. LOL 😀 Looks good tho.
What a great choice – I’ve not heard of this book and I’m intrigued.
I like your choice and also the one next to it.
The Dutch edition made me laugh – it looks like an old movie poster.
Lynn 😀
Ooooh that Hungarian one is giving me the creeps. I think I really like the Polish edition, but it doesn’t really seem like a horror cover. Werewolves are always a great choice.
I own the same one you do and am partial to it. But that Hungarian one is pretty wicked too. I thought the movie, Silver Bullet, was pretty good too.

What a fabulous choice for this week’s theme! My favourite is the 2004 Polish edition – the blue hues with that snarling wolf is both attractive and eye-catching – but then, I don’t generally do horror:)).
Polish 2004 is my favorite of the collection, but the Hungarian certainly wins most….interesting lol.

This is the first time I heard of this book, and I thought I knew all King’s titles, even those I had not read!
I love your choice: there is a unique blend of man and wolf in that figure that is very intriguing… 🙂

I haven’t read this one, but I do like the looks of the Turkish edition. 🙂
The Polish edition is my favorite, love the colors!
I kind of like both Polish editions. 🙂
I like your choice the best too. I kind of like the Polish one but it makes me think of a book more like Call of the Wild rather than a book about werewolves.

Fantastic pick! I don’t think I’ve heard of this King book!
I like the Turkish edition 2016 best 😀 Great choice this week!
I love the US one too! It’s also on my shelf. 🙂 I’m quite fond of the Polish edition 2004.
