Waiting on Wednesday [323] – THE WITCH’S KIND by Louisa Morgan

Waiting on Wednesdays is the brainchild of Jill at Breaking the Spine, and because Jill isn’t hosting it any more, I’m now linking up with Can’t Wait Wednesday at Wishful Endings. Stop over there and link up your “Can’t Wait” book of the week!

Happy Halloween, everyone! I just had to feature a spooky, Halloween-centric book today, and luckily I just spotted this cover on Goodreads and Edelweiss:

From the author of A Secret History of Witches comes an absorbing tale of love, sacrifice, family ties, and magic, set in the Pacific Northwest in the aftermath of World War II — perfect for fans of Practical MagicThe Witch’s Daughter, and A Discovery of Witches.

Barrie Anne Blythe and her aunt Charlotte have always known that the other residents of their small coastal community find them peculiar — two women living alone on the outskirts of town. It is the price of concealing their strange and dangerous family secret.

But two events threaten to upend their lives forever. The first is the arrival of a mysterious abandoned baby with a hint of power like their own. The second is the sudden reappearance of Barrie Anne’s long-lost husband — who is not quite the man she thought she married.

Together, Barrie Anne and Charlotte must decide how far they are willing to go to protect themselves — and the child they think of as their own — from suspicious neighbors, the government, and even their own family…

The Witch’s Kind by Louisa Morgan. Releases in March 2019 from Redhook. I really enjoyed Morgan’s last book, A Secret History of Witches, and I’m looking forward to reading more from her. This book seems to be more of a traditional single narrative, which I’m very happy about, as opposed to her last book, which had five different POVs and was a little much, in my opinion. Also, I’m not sure this is the final cover. Goodreads has a slightly different version, but I decided to use this one in my post because I found it on Edelweiss, and their images are larger and a much better resolution than the ones on Goodreads.

What do you think? Does this sound good to you? What are you waiting on this week?

  1. The Secret History of Witches is on sale on Amazon today. The e-format anyway. I haven’t yet read that one, but I want to. And this one sounds really good as well. I love the sound of this! Thank you for letting me know about this one. I hope you love it when you read it.

I hope it’s good, I enjoyed A Secret History of Witches, and I’m happy to see the author tackling another witch story!

  2. I think I added this one to my watch list earlier in the month, but I didn’t love A Secret History of Witches so I don’t know if I’ll jump into this one unless I see some great reviews. I’m counting on you to tell me all about it 😀

I remember you didn’t love it, but I’m hopeful this will be easier to read as far as format goes.

  3. Ooh, great choice! I didn’t know she had another book coming out next year, so that’s exciting. I really hope this is the final cover because it’s wonderful!

  4. I wanted to read Secret History of Witches, but then got a little scared by the format because I’ve read some books that sounded similar weren’t quite as good as I hoped. Sounds like this one might be a better fit.

I know some people didn’t really like Secret History of Witches because of that, so hopefully with one timeline this will work better.

  5. I have just finished reading The Secret History of Witches and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you for letting me know that Morgan is bringing out another book, Tammy!

  6. I love the sound of this. I didn’t read the author’s first book but this is a standalone which is good and basically you had me at ‘witch’.
    Lynn 😀
