Future Fiction #396 – Cover Reveals & Newly Discovered SFF Books

Welcome to Future Fiction, my reimagining of the Waiting on Wednesday meme! There are so many amazing new books coming out, that I can no longer pick just one. My goal with Future Fiction is to share at least three new books each week, a combination of recent cover reveals and books that I’ve recently added to my TBR pile. I’m still going to be linking up with Wishful Endings/Can’t Wait Wednesday, and I also want to give a shout out to Jill at Breaking the Spine for starting the original Waiting on Wednesday meme. I hope you’ll find some new books to add to your TBR piles, and as always, I look forward to hearing what YOU’RE looking forward to:-D

Today I have three upcoming releases by authors I love, take a look:

SOMETIMES ONE HUSBAND IS NOT ENOUGH.
Flight attendant Ariella has perfected the art of the double life. In a picture-postcard village, she plays the charming wife to wholesome Noah and the loving mother to their daughter. But in London, she is the glamorous new bride of Luka, living in a luxurious penthouse high above the city. Ariella believes you can have more than one soulmate—and you might as well.

Darcy is not like Ariella. She lives on a quirky London street, is married to her perfect partner, and has never wanted more. Because Darcy believes in the one.

But everyone knows that marriage can be murder.

When a husband is killed, his wife wants to know who did it—and why. But can we ever really know the person we marry? One thing is for sure: She’s about to learn how far people will go to protect the secrets of a perfect marriage—or two.

EVERY GOOD LOVE STORY HAS A PLOT TWIST.

Twist by Alice Feeney. Releases in February 2027 from Flatiron Books. I feel like this title might be a little too much on the nose, since Feeney is known for her twists, but of course I want to read it. To be honest, I am still hoping for another book as good as Daisy Darker, but I’m not sure she’ll ever be able to top it.

From the author of The Deep Sky, a near-future thriller about five estranged astronauts who become the targets of a mysterious assassination plot.

Make contact.

Return home.
Survive the consequences.

Ten years ago, an alien spacecraft appeared at the far edge of our solar system. Five people were sent to make first contact:

Nina, mission commander.
Riku, doctor.
Dmitry, pilot.
Anaïs, engineer.
Yuxuan, scientist.

Envoy traveled a hundred million miles into space only to find a silent, empty ship―or so it seemed.

Now, on the tenth anniversary of their historic mission, the crew are pulled back together to participate in an Envoy reunion: one highly publicized weekend. But on the eve of the celebration, one of the crew members is murdered. Someone knows Envoy brought back something they shouldn’t have―something powerful enough to change the course of human civilization.

Will the remaining Envoy crew uncover the truth about their expedition? Or will the killer get to them first?

Envoy by Yume Kitasei. Releases in July 2027 from Tor Books. I’m a huge fan of the author, particularly her debut The Deep Sky, and I’m thrilled to see she has another book coming out next year!

A monster hunter who secretly runs a sanctuary for monsters must form an unlikely alliance in this rich and moving novel from the USA Today bestselling author of The Keeper of Magical Things.

The life of a monster hunter is simple: Have spear, will travel. Meixin and her hound slay winged and wicked roaming beasts for coin. But Meixin has a few secrets: Her dog is actually a fire-breathing huodou, she rescues half as many monsters as she kills, and she herself is one of the most powerful monsters in the kingdom.

Meixin is the last shapeshifting dragon and has no memory of how the others disappeared. Though she grieves, she finds peace in her island sanctuary full of tame monsters—a peace unexpectedly threatened the day a man nearly dies on her doorstep.

Faran the Green is an upstart sorcerer with dreams of sailing beyond the magical fog that isolates the kingdom. But to earn the rulers’ permission, he must win the Great Hunt by capturing a living dragon. He’s determined to hire the best monster hunter for help, but when his first attempt goes awry, he ends up dragged onto Meixin’s isle.

To save her creatures from discovery and for a chance to find the only kin she may have left, Meixin joins Faran on his search (omitting a few personal details). She knows humans can’t be trusted, even pretty ones who speak gently to flowers, never tell lies, and don’t mind her scars. But when their hunt comes to a head, she must choose a side—man or monster—even if the line between them is as thin as water.

The Isle of Lonely Monsters by Julie Leong. Releases in January 2027 from Ace Books. OK this sounds pretty adorable! Plus what a beautiful cover. This will be a must read for sure:-)
