What’s On My Plate – June 2026

We are almost halfway through the year, can you believe it?? June is a big month for new releases, and as usual I’ve added way too many to my plate! This list includes all genres, including the June releases I’ve chosen to read for Summer of Horror. I have already read The Children, and it might end up in my top five at the end of the year, I loved it that much. Here are the books on my June TBR:

The Children by Melissa Albert. Look for my review tomorrow. This book was simply brilliant!

Three Hitmen and a Baby by Rob Hart. This is book #3 in his highly entertaining Assassins Anonymous series, and I’ll be diving in soon!

The Tinder Box by M.R. Carey. I’m a huge Carey fan, and this seems like quite a departure for him. But I wouldn’t be a real fan if I didn’t try it:-)

Headlights by C.J. Leede. I have loved both of Leede’s previous two books, and I have a feeling I’m going to love this too.

The Summer Fun Massacre by Craig DiLouie. I’ve just started this and it’s already lots of fun. I love seeing how DiLouie is going to tackle the camp slasher trope.

It Came From Neverland by Cynthia Pelayo. “Peter Pan meets It” is an intriguing description, and I can’t wait to see if it’s true:-)

The Sixth Nik by Daniel Kraus. I never miss a Daniel Kraus book, and I believe this is his first venture into science fiction.

The Jellyfish Problem by Tessa Yang. I’m fascinated by jellyfish, and I believe there is some jellyfish science within the story.

Green City Wars by Adrian Tchaikovsky. A detective story with animals! I mean, of course this is going to be good:-)

Hopeless Necromantic by Shiloh Briar. This is probably one of my favorite covers of the year! I’m hoping the story is just as good.

Samantha Spük: Paranormal Wedding Planner by Aleese Lin. This has a Wednesday comp, which intrigues me. The purple cover doesn’t hurt either!

Mr. Yay by Emily Jane. I actually received a copy of this from the author, and it sounds hilarious!

The Traveler by Joseph Eckert. This time travel story about a father and his son sounds really good!

We Hexed the Moon by Mollyhall Seeley. I’ve been hearing really good things about this coming of age fantasy.

Obstetrix by Naomi Kritzer. This is another novella that’s been getting great reviews!

What books are you excited to read this month? Do we have any in common?

I have heard good things about A Botanical Daughter. I’m so glad you are participating:-)

  2. I can’t believe it’s already June! This year is going by fast. And I’m so excited for Three Hitmen and a Baby; I’m loving that series. The Jellyfish Problem sounds equally fun. Happy reading all of these! 😀

  3. Oh yay so glad to hear that The Children was such a strong read for you. I wish I’d requested it now but it was on wishlist only when I looked and then I somehow completely forgot to check again nearer its release day. Im hoping to request Tinder Box but it depends on how long my next two reads take me. If I miss it I’ll definitely still be reading it sometime this year though as its definitely one of my most anticipated books of the year. I cant wait to see what you think of Green City Wars too as it sounds so interesting. I hope you have a lovely month and find many more favourites along the way.

  4. Veros @ Dark Shelf of Wonders

I can’t believe it no, my May went by in a blink and yeah there are sooo many releases on my radar for this month it’s nuts! I’m excited about M. R. Carey’s new book! Ohh yay Summer of Horror, I hope to post something for it since I had so much fun with that last year! Paranormal wedding Planner sounds fun adding to my tbr. I thought it said Spiik . I hope you enjoy all of your June reads!

  5. Though there are several that look interesting the two I’m currently most curious about are The Sixth Nik and The Traveler.

  6. I just received Green City Wars and am really excited. I also finished Summer Fun Massacre Monday and am reading Samantha Spuk now. I loved Massacre but had no idea it was a duology. Also, the Samantha Spuk book is hilarious!

  7. Yes, we have a few books in common that I’m really excited to get to. Headlights looks so creepy – can’t wait to tuck into that one.
