May 2026 Reading Wrap-Up

I’m posting this a few days early since I won’t be able to share any more reviews this month. I didn’t read as much as I wanted to in May, but some months are like that. I reviewed eight books and most of them were excellent! Below I’ve ranked my May reads in order of how much I enjoyed them, and my reviews are linked if you’d like to read them:

The Girl With a Thousand Faces by Sunyi Dean

The Gatepost by Tim Weed

The Fake Divination Offense by Sara Raasch

Abyss by Nicholas Binge

Teddy Bears Never Die by Cho Yeeun

Dead Weight by Hildur Knútsdóttir

Death’s Daughter by S.A. Barnes

The Café of Infinite Doors by Zara Marielle

What was your favorite book of May?

  1. May seems to have been about quality, Tammy. I’m delighted at your rating of The Gatepost as I’ve managed to get hold of a copy:). My favourite books this month were Deadly Force by Cynthia Harrod-Eagles, Ode to the Half-Broken by Suzanne Palmer and An Accident of Dragons by Cheri Radke. Here’s hoping June is as good!

I can’t wait to hear what you think of The Gatepost! I don’t know anyone else who’s read it.

  2. That cover of Teddy Bears Never Die is eye catching. You had a nice reading month! I only managed to read on book and it was not too great lol. I hope to catch up in June.

  3. Five books with 4 or more stars is pretty great! Glad you found so much to enjoy this month. I mainly tried to get through my commitment books (ARCs & book group) this month. and I’m hoping to have more time for reading more from my shelves and doing more “on a whim” reading in June!

I think I’ve been distracted this month for some reason. That always means I read less.

  4. You had a great month and some good books. I’ve just finished the Calamity Club and it’s probably my favourite of the month. Review up soon.
    Lynn 😀

  5. Tammy, I am struggling with The Gatepost. You and I are usually so similar in our thoughts that I will keep on keeping on, though! Dead Weight is up next for me, so I am kind of sad to see that one lower. On the plus side, I have avoided the SA Barnes one, despite loving her other stuff, because this one just does not feel like it is for me, and I feel validated in that decision heh. Pretty good month for you overall though!

  6. You may not have finished quite as many as you’d like but it does appear you did well at enjoying what you read, which is always great to see. My favorite read of May was a non-fiction book by Simon Winchester called Krakatoa.

  7. Sorry for missing this, I’m not sure how I managed that. Im glad you had some strong reads in May, especially The Girl With A Thousand Faces which sounds like a must read. I was impressed that you managed to tempt me with the Teddy Bear title too review wise as I really didn’t think it looked like my kind of read cover wise lol

  8. Its interesting how we respond to the same books! I could not get into Girl with a Thousand Faces and had to bail real late into the book but we had the same reaction to Dead Weight and I just finished Teddy Bears and my rating will be similar, I think.
