April 2026 Reading Wrap-Up

April was a very good month for reading! My favorite book of the month was The Book Witch, and I had four 4.5 star reads too. I also managed to post ten reviews, which I’m happy about. Four of these are novellas, so that’s probably why:-) Here are the books I read and reviewed in April in order of how much I enjoyed them. My reviews are linked below if you missed them!

The Book Witch by Meg Shaffer

Japanese Gothic by Kylie Lee Baker

The Caretaker by Marcus Kliewer

We Burned So Bright by T.J. Klune

The Language of Liars by S.L. Huang

The Tricky Business of Faerie Bargains by Reena McCarty

The Verdant Cage by Jess Lourey

The Geomagician by Jennifer Mandula

Bodies of Work by Clay McLeod Chapman

Morsel by Carter Keane

What was your favorite book of April?

  1. Glad you had a good reading month! I feel my April was a better reading month than Jan-March, and I think my story graph ratings average supports that. I really want to read the new Klune book, but I don’t want to shell out close to $30 for a shorter book. Maybe library or PangoBooks will come in clutch for that one for me…

I agree, I love that feeling at the end of a great book where you’re both happy and sad:-)

I don’t have as many novellas in May, so I doubt I’ll hit this number. Oh well!

I hope that hold comes in, I’m very curious to get some more opinions on The Book Witch!

  2. I… haven’t read any of these . Granted, I didn’t read much in April, but I’ll make a note of them all. Pretty good month for you, eh?

  3. What a great reading month. April was slower for me, and I only finished seven books. I had a conference and an outing with work, so I did travel some and then a friend came in for a few days. I’m hoping to pick up the pace for May though. I see a few here I have to make time for.

  4. It looks like another fantastic reading month overall. I’m glad we both enjoyed Japanese Gothic so much and still aren’t over how cleverly everything was tied together at the end. I hope to pick up We Burned So Bright soon and The Caretaker during your summer horror event. Ive also recently seen a gorgeous special edition of The Verdant Cage and after it won you over, despite being YA, I’m very tempted to treat myself to a copy lol

  5. I’m really curious to try those first two books, The Book Witch and Japanese Gothic. For my favorite I went back in time and finally got around to reading ‘Salem’s Lot by Stephen King for the first time. Classic vampire tale! 🙂

  6. Looks like April was a great month for reading! You have several on your list that I still want to pick up, but haven’t gotten to yet. (The Book Witch is at the top of that list…)
