Buffy’s Corner 1/11/26 – Looking at the Week Ahead

Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer.

It has been COLD here, like highs in the 30s cold (I know that’s nothing for some of you!). I’m surviving by wearing lots of layers (we don’t run our heat all the time because it’s so expensive). But at least there’s no snow yet!

I just started watching His & Hers on Netflix (from the Alice Feeney book) and it’s very good so far. I haven’t read the book yet, but I want to do a comparison, so I may try to squeeze it in in soon. Let me know if you’ve read the book or seen the series yet!

And finally, I’m trying a few new blog related things this year. I bought Novelly Yours’ Reading Tracker for 2026 and I’m going to try it and see if it works for me. I haven’t done much yet, so I’m only showing the cover today, but later in the year I’ll do an update and hopefully have some colorful layouts to share.

Upcoming reads & reviews:

I’m keeping up my momentum and I’m a bit ahead of myself. My review of A Box Full of Darkness will be up tomorrow (first 5 star book of 2026!) Later in the week I’ll review How to Lose a Goblin in Ten Days, and I just finished House of Splinters (super eerie!) and depending on how much time I have this week, I’ll either post a review this week or next. I just cracked open Detour, so I’ll give you a report on it next week.

Other posts this week:

Tuesday I’m sharing my Most Anticipated Books of 2026 First Quarter; and Wednesday I have three exciting cover reveals to share on Future Fiction.

In case you missed:

  1. Beautiful pic!! And stay warm!! It’s cold here too, and I am making good use of all my comfy and warm clothes at the moment ❄️ I didn’t know they made a TV shows on His & Hers but I have to check that out! I have yet to read the book too, but this year I was hoping to read more books by that author so… It may be the push I need!

  2. We’ve been having the colder weather here, then a few days up in the 50s/60s. I keep my temp in my house at about 67. Which a lot of people think is cold, but I can wrap up in blankets and would rather be a little chilly than sweating. The problem with that though, is then in the summer I still want my house cool, lol. Love the picture of Badger! I’ll be interested to see what the reading journal entails! Have a good week!

  3. That reading tracker is so tempting, even though I know I wouldn’t keep up with it!

Temperatures can be so subjective really — and humidity can surprisingly make things feel a lot colder or warmer, so there’s that as well as it being what you’re used to. It’s been cold here compared to usual, but that just means within a couple of degrees of O celsius, so it’s not “bad” compared to elsewhere! Hope you’re managing to stay toasty.

  4. It’s been cold here too. I’m not loving it.
We’re about to start watching His and Hers so good to know you’re enjoying it.
Hope you have a great week. I’m also thinking of doing the TTT anticipated books.
Lovely Badger – ‘Badger in the Mist’ – sounds like the name of a book.
    Lynn 😀

Oh yes, that does sound like a book title;-) I have three more episodes to go with His & Hers, I will finish it this week.

  5. Another fabulous pic of Badger – he is such a handsome boy!! I’ll be intrigued to discover what you think of Detour – it wasn’t what I was expecting… Hope it warms up for you! Have a great week, Tammy.

Thank you Sarah! I will post my thoughts on Detour next week, it certainly is keeping me on my toes!

  6. Can’t wait to see your review for the goblin book. Mine goes up tomorrow. As for weather, it’s been warmer than usual here…like in the 50s. I think it goes back down this week, which is fine with me because I want to wear my sweaters!

  7. That’s a lovely photo of Badger! I’m with you on being super cold with high temps in the 30’s — it’s rare enough in my part of CA that I’ve been getting extreme weather warnings on my phone.

  8. I fear I would not survive the 30s, so I’m sending you all my warmest thoughts, haha. I’d love to hear how the reading tracker goes for you, I always want to use one, but then I always forget… lol. Very excited to hear your thoughts on all of these, especially Detour! I hope you have a fantastic week, and I’m loving the photo this week so much.

LOL I do not like this weather! I am determined to use my new reading tracker, I just have to figure it out first. There are lots of ways to use it, so I’m a bit stumped at the moment.

  9. It’s great to see Simone St James with a 5 star. I recall reading some of your great reviews of her previous books and though I’ve not tried any yet I have picked up a couple of them (The Book of Cold Cases and The Sun Down Motel). That photo of Badger is almost a bit eerie. 🙂

Thanks Todd! I do like that photo. And the weird red plants (not sure what they are) add some drama.

  10. Love the reading tracker! I need to look into getting one for my daughter for her birthday. I am also watching His & Hers! I’ve read the book and it was one of her better ones. So far the main plot is pretty faithful, though the original story takes place in a small English village and not a suburb of Atlanta so there are those changes involved to make that work.
