Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer.
We had a lovely thunderstorm yesterday! It rained for a couple of hours and there was a lot of loud thunder. I loved it! Also, a new family moved in a couple of houses away and brought—a rooster. We are currently in the middle of Rooster Wars. We decided to go speak to the new owners and introduce ourselves, oh and by the way we understand you have a rooster? They said, yeah, we’re getting rid of it. That was a week ago and the rooster is still here. It’s illegal to own a rooster up here unless you have at least an acre of land, which no one in our neighborhood has. There’s also no law enforcement here since our town in unincorporated. Sigh. I’ll let you know how that goes, and let me know if you have any rooster advise, lol.
Have a great week, everyone!
Upcoming reads & reviews:
It’s the last week of August, and I have not managed to read everything I wanted to. But that’s how it goes, right? This week I’ll be sharing my reviews of The Entanglement of Rival Wizards (much darker than the cover suggests!) and The Bone Raiders (currently reading it and enjoying it a lot!). Up next, I’m continuing with some August releases, and will probably read Secret Lives of the Dead and An Evil Premise.
Other posts this week:
Wednesday I have three new covers to share on Future Fiction; Friday is my last chance to post a Summer of Horror Cover Love post; and Saturday I’m going to wrap up my Summer of Horror event. It sure has been fun!
Summer of Horror Updates:

Oof, I’m guessing the rooster is really noisy? Good luck with that situation!
I’m curious about The Entanglement of Rival Wizards. That cover really doesn’t lead one to expect anything dark!
The rooster is awful, super loud and it startles me every time it crows!
I will trade you, your Rooster problems for my neighbors who keep shooting their guns and scaring my fur baby as she hates it. 🙁
OMG both options are terrible! Shooting guns here is illegal, so I don’t have to worry about that (you can hunt only in certain areas).
If summer of horror happens next year, I will join – found out about it too late this year. Hope you have a great week.
Oh cool! Yes, Summer of Horror will happen next year too. This is the first year other bloggers have joined in, which was exciting:-)
I don’t have roosters Tammy but I smiled when I read that as yesterday I watched Maverick: Top Gun and one of the pilots had Rooster as a call sign… It’s fate! LOL
I love Top Gun!
I’m jealous of your thunderstorm and rain! We haven’t had any thunderstorms or rain where I live (in Salt Lake City) since the 4th of July. But I’m hopeful we’ll get some this week. Fingers crossed! Cool picture of Badger. 😀
Thanks Lark! I adore thunderstorms and we don’t get them very often here either.
Ugh to new neighbors. The one who moved in next to me where I had good neighbors doesn’t do any weed trimming on his side of the fence and now I have sprouts coming through on my side. Plus I guess he didn’t realize that the other side of his yard by the main street on the other side of the fence is his, and he hasn’t been mowing. So the city came out and put a code violation sign in the area. But if they don’t tell him, and he doesn’t realize that is his yard, I’m wondering if he’ll even realize that sign is for him? Love the picture of Badger! Hope you have a good week and the rooster goes away soon!

Wow, your city is strict about mowing! It’s so hard to get good neighbors. We are actually lucky with most of our neighbors, but the rooster house and one other family who leaves their dog alone all day (and the dog cries and barks non stop) are neighbors I could do without.
Oh wow. I have no advice, but good luck in sorting out the rooster situation.
Thank you!
Love the Badger photo! Good luck on the rooster front. I think many of us have not read everything we wanted to read in August.
Thanks Anne! August was packed with so many new releases, but September and October are just as bad, I think:-)
Did you say cashew chicken curry? Mmmmmm…
LOL does it work with rooster?
I fail to see why not, but the only way to know for sure is to try;)
Good luck with the rooster war!! And the pic is beautiful, as always!!
Thanks Susy!
I’m really excited for Lucky Day and The Entanglement of Rival Wizards! Good luck in the Rooster Wars! XD
The rooster wars continue, lol.
oh wow, Rooster Wars!
Suggestion: send them the best recipe for coq au vin, lol.
Or invite them for dinner: they bring the rooster and you cook it 😉
We don’t get over many thunder storms but when we do I think the lightning can be fascinating to watch. I’m guessing Badger’s okay with storms? My last dog hated them but Daisy doesn’t really react luckily.
Thanks for linking to my post. I can’t believe we’re almost at the end of the summer event already.
Badger seems fine with storms, which is nice. My other dogs were terrified by any loud noises. And yes, it seems the summer flew by! Although I am looking forward to the Fall season:-)
Yeah there are strict laws here against roosters too, they do make quite a racket. Maybe it’s time for an anonymous report to the county if they still haven’t gotten rid of it!
There was once a rooster in my folks neighborhood, where it’s also illegal and no where near enough land. Pretty annoying when those things start vocalizing. Don’t have any advice, but I hope it gets sorted out soon (if it hasn’t already). Nice silhouette of Badger!
I don’t envy you the rooster but hopefully the new neighbours won’t like the noise nuisance any more than you do. I hope it works out.
Lovely pic of Badger.
Lynn 😀
