Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
It’s that time of year when we turn the clocks back an hour, and in a couple of days we decide the fate of our country for the next four years. I hesitate to talk politics on this blog, but I was just made aware of a short film called Red, White and Blue, and if you are on the fence at all right now about who to vote for, I urge you to watch it. It’s been nominated for an Academy Award and it’s a heartbreaking story with a very important message (trigger warning: abortion).
On a lighter note, I just watched A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder on NetFlix, and wow, I loved it! It’s only six episodes and it’s based on the Holly Jackson book. There are three books in the series, so I hope they adapt the other two. Emma Myers, who plays Enid on Wednesday, is the main character, and she’s fantastic!
I hope everyone has a good week!
Upcoming reads & reviews:
I read a lot last week, which I’m very happy about. I just happened to choose books that worked well for me, so I breezed through Grimm Curiosities (loved it!) and The Hollow and the Haunted (also really loved it!) and I’m about halfway through Dark Space (lots of fun!), and I may be able to post all three reviews this week, wish me luck:-) Next I’d like to pick up a November release, The Swarm. Even though spooky season is over, it’s really never over for me, lol.
Other posts this week:
I’m joining in Top Ten Tuesday for their prompt “____ on the Cover.” Stop by to see what cover theme I’ve chosen; Wednesday I’ll have three new covers to share on Future Fiction; and I’m working on a discussion post (something I’ve haven’t done in years) about how I decide which books to give a full 5 stars to. It’s a topic I’ve been thinking about a lot, specifically what’s the difference between 4 1/2 and 5 star ratings for me. If I can finish writing it, look for that post later this week!
In case you missed:
My posts from last week:

The pic is so beautiful!
And I am glad you enjoyed A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder, I was curious about it!!
I hope you watch it!
I’m on pin and needles about your elections as well…regardless of where one lives, there’s too much at stake for too many people, and it affects everyone..
Best of luck with keeping up with your schedule. As usual, I loved the pic!

I love that other countries sympathize with the U.S., it’s just unbelievable to me how divided this country is.
I don’t have Netflix, and on rare occasions, I feel like I’m missing out on something. This may be one of those times.
That is a lot of reading for one week!
I’m very excited to see what you and others have chosen for what’s on the cover. I almost went with words because it was harder than I thought!

I think you can try NetFlix for a month for free, it might be a good way to try it:-)
Woah, thanks for the reminder about the clocks. My father had reminded me yesterday but of course I forgot again. I look forward to reading your ratings discussion. I feel like my ratings are pretty haphazard at times, not very methodical at all. And that’s quite an interesting looking stork. Certainly not a species we see around here. 🙂
Hopefully we’ve all adjusted to the time change by now:-)
I still haven’t read A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder even though I really want to and I want to watch the Netflix series too. But will I ever get around to it is another question. I can’t believe American elections are already coming up. Not gonna lie, it’s been scary watching women’s rights and reproductive freedom being taken away from you all and I feel Europe is also going in that direction slowly, as well as other bad things. Sending good vibes on the 5th!
I’m so curious to read the books now. I can’t imagine them being better than the show:-)
I have read the Good Girl’s Guide to Murder and watched a couple episodes and wasn’t a fan, didn’t feel much like the books to me, but maybe it had been to long since I read them and I had forgotten somethings but it just seemed really different. Glad you enjoyed it.
Have a great week and happy reading!

Thanks Stormi!
Thanks for making me aware of that short film…I will definitely watch it. Bodily autonomy is a major platform for me and I so hope we as a Nation make the right decision on Tuesday. I’m so nervous.

Well I guess we know how that turned out:-(
Good stuff. I read that studies show Maternal deaths have tripled and infant mortality is up 7% since the abortion bans. Women can’t get care, even when they want the baby. I’ll have to check out the Good Girls Guide as I read all the books. So great you got to more reading. I’ll look forward to how you decide about 4.5 vs 5, it can be a tough call.
I need to read the Good Girls books now:-)
Looking forward to this week’s reviews, especially The Hollow & the Haunted, which just started popping up on my feeds. Thanks for the Netflix recommendation! I hadn’t considered that one, but maybe I”ll give it a shot. Wishing you a great week… while holding my breath to see how it all goes on and after Tuesday.
My daughter recommended A Good Girl’s Guide and she’s always right:-)
Beautiful picture! I’ll be out to vote on Tuesday. I have been thinking of a similar post about why I rate things specifically a 4 or half stars, and why sometimes on sites that I can only give whole stars I might give it the higher vs. sometimes rounding down. Will look forward to reading your post on that! I might also do that Top 10 Tuesday, that sounds like a fun one!

I still haven’t written my “ratings” post, but I will at some point!
Ooh, I can’t wait for A Letter from the Lonesome Shore. I loved the first book so much.
Deciding on the number of stars to give a book is so hard. I feel like I’m really stingy about it… but then when I meet a five-star book, I know.

I’m glad you also loved A Letter to the Luminous Deep, it was so unique:-)
Nice photo! Spooky season is never over for me either. Grimm Curiosities sounds good. I think rating books is hard.

It was sooo good!
And now I must watch a Good Girl’s Guide to Murder! I loved the book!
You should, I loved it!
I watched Good Girl’s Guide to Murder recently too and really enjoyed it. It’s made me tempted to add the book to my endless TBR list 😀
I want to read the series now!
I’m always on the look out for new Netflix series so thanks for that.
You had a great week with some solid reads.
Lynn 😀
It was a very good reading week:-)
