Welcome to Future Fiction, my reimagining of the Waiting on Wednesday meme! There are so many amazing new books coming out, that I can no longer pick just one. My goal with Future Fiction is to share at least three new books each week, a combination of recent cover reveals and books that I’ve recently added to my TBR pile. I’m still going to be linking up with Wishful Endings/Can’t Wait Wednesday, and I also want to give a shout out to Jill at Breaking the Spine for starting the original Waiting on Wednesday meme. I hope you’ll find some new books to add to your TBR piles, and as always, I look forward to hearing what YOU’RE looking forward to:-D
Three new covers, all in shades of green (a happy mistake). Also, did you notice all three books have six words in the title?
At the Bottom of the Garden by Camilla Bruce. Releases in January 2025 from Del Rey. I’m so excited for a new Camilla Bruce book! And this sounds so good. Not that I even need a blurb to convince me to read it:-)
From the author of Citadel and popular TikTokker C.M. Alongi comes a bewitching new romantic fantasy where a young witch seeks her freedom by forging a deal with Death…
A young witch forced to play concubine for her impirical captor, finally breaks free to find a life of her own, but even those with the power to call Death cannot outrun their past…
All witches must serve the cruel and immortal Emperor Yacatl. But after four years of terror and abuse, Khana not only kills one of his favorite courtiers with her magic, but also discovers the secret of his power and he’s been making deals with Death. And now, so is she.
Armed with magic that she doesn’t fully understand, Khana flees the empire and stumbles into a small mountain town filled with fierce warriors that ostracize her for being a witch, despite using her abilities to heal their sick and injured. There, her magic and courage are put to the test as she is forced to stop running and fight back against the emperor that wants her dead.
But every deal she makes with Death takes another piece of her soul. And there’s only so much Khana can give before she turns into the very monster she’s trying to destroy.
The Witch Who Trades With Death by C.M. Alongi. Releases in March 2025 from Angry Robot. The cover and the blurb don’t really say “romantic fantasy” to me, but still, I’m intrigued by this story. Also, love the cover!
Giant turtles, impossible ships, and tidal rivers ridden by a Drowned girl in search of a family in the latest in the bestselling Hugo and Nebula Award-Winning Wayward Children series from Seanan McGuire.
Nadya had three mothers: the one who bore her, the country that poisoned her, and the one who adopted her.
Nadya never considered herself less than whole, not until her adoptive parents fitted her with a prosthetic arm against her will, seeking to replace the one she’d been missing from birth.
It was cumbersome; it was uncomfortable; it was wrong.
It wasn’t her.
Frustrated and unable to express why, Nadya began to wander, until the day she fell through a door into Belyrreka, the Land Beneath the Lake–and found herself in a world of water, filled with child-eating amphibians, majestic giant turtles, and impossible ships that sailed as happily beneath the surface as on top. In Belyrreka, she found herself understood for who she was: a Drowned Girl, who had made her way to her real home, accepted by the river and its people.
But even in Belyrreka, there are dangers, and trials, and Nadya would soon find herself fighting to keep hold of everything she had come to treasure.
Adrift in Currents Clean and Clear (Wayward Children #10) by Seanan McGuire. Releases in January 2025 from Tordotcom. Oh look at the cute turtle on the cover! This series has had its ups and downs for me, but I certainly won’t be missing book #10 in the series.
I’ve never read anything by Camilla Bruce but the description for that new one sounds so good. Might have to start with that one, even though it’s a while before it’s released 😀
Her books are so good!
Oooo, I’ve got my eye in At the Bottom of the Garden. It sounds wonderfully tense and a bit spooky. The Witch Who Trades with Death looks great too – love the cover!

I’m SO excited for the new Camilla Bruce!
The Wayward Children covers continue to be stunning! First time I see this one.
I think this cover was just revealed, it’s a good one!
I’m definitely interested in THE WITCH WHO TRADES WITH DEATH, though I have just a smidge of trepidation about the TikTok label. I’ll try not to pre-judge it, but it does sound very interesting!
Me too, I usually shy away from anything that’s advertised as “TikTok sensation,” lol.
I really need to catch up on the Wayward Children series. It started so strong except for that Sugar Sky one which I didn’t care for much at all. I love that there is a turtle on this one. I also featured the Camilla Bruce novel this week. I couldn’t resist because it has all my buzzwords – Gothic, withes, killer Plus the cover is gorgeous! Great choices this week.
I didn’t like Sugar Sky either, but I always read each new book because there have been some good ones.
I can’t wait for the next Wayward Children book!
Me too, I love the drowned world so it should be good.
Just got my ARC for the Wayward Children book! At the Bottom of the Garden sounds deliciously creepy — will keep an eye out for that one!
Oh cool! I’m excited to read both of these.
I LOVE those covers especially At the Bottom of the Garden.
Me too, it’s spooky, right?
That’s a lot of coincidences! Green in the cover and six word titles . . . They all sound good! I hope you enjoy them. Tammy!
I know, I didn’t realize until I chose the last book that they all have six words, lol.
All of these have beautiful covers and intriguing descriptions in their own way but The Witch Who Trades With Death has my name written all over it. I agree, though, that it doesn’t exactly seem romantasy but I guess we’ll have to read it to see it.

Yes, let’s both read it and find out:-)
Three six word title green books, eh? Interesting but enjoyable theme, intentional or not. 🙂
It wasn’t intentional at all!
I only needed to see the bold bit of the blurb to add the garden book to my TBR. Somehow I haven’t read a book by the author yet although I’ve added a few to my TBR. I immediately added the witch one to my tbr too. I wouldn’t have guessed that it’s meant to be a romantic fantasy from it’s blurb either though. I also somehow haven’t started the Wayward Children series yet but really want to. I can’t believe it’s got to book 10 already. I love the cover of this installment too.
A new Camilla Bruce is always a cause for celebration.
Lynn 😀
I love At The Bottom Of The Garden’s cover!!
