May 2024 Reading & Wyrd & Wonder Wrap-Up

Artwork by Elena Zakharchuk

May was a very solid month of reading, and even though I had one pretty disappointing read, everything else was well worth checking out. I even managed to read a book from my TBR Jar! (Good Bad Girl)

I also participated in Wyrd & Wonder (with thanks to all the hosts!), and surprisingly I managed to read five of the fantasy books on my list. I also posted a few fantasy lists and tags this month, in case you missed them:

Quick Fire Fantasy Tag

Nine Upcoming Romantasies to Add to Your TBR

Twelve Upcoming Cozy Fantasies to Add to Your TBR

May Flowers – Ten Flowery Fantasy Books

Here is what I read/reviewed in May: (click on the titles to read my reviews)

The Silverblood Promise by James Logan

Good Bad Girl by Alice Feeney

A Letter to the Luminous Deep by Sylvie Cathrall

The Brides of High Hill by Nghi Vo

A Friend Indeed by Elka Ray

Evocation by S.T. Gibson

  1. It looks like you had a fantastic reading month. The only read we have in common is Luminous Deep but at least we both loved it. I need to check out a few of the others. My favourite read of the month was Babylonia which is out next month. I loved the authors debut but somehow this one was even better

  2. TNT

I loved Luminous Deep. The Brides of High Hill veered into horror, which is not a genre I enjoy, so I respected rather than liked that one. I’m working on Lake of Souls, a collection of stories by Ann Leckie; some I like better than others.

  3. I can’t believe I missed this whole event. I can’t believe it’s the end of May. Did somebody press ‘fast forward’.
You had a blast. Some good books here.

  4. Seems like May was good despite the disappointing read. I almost bought Evocation today. The hardcover is so pretty.

  5. It’s too bad about that 1 disappointing read, but hooray for everything else being at least decent or even very good! I personally had pretty mixed feelings about most of the books I read this month (none of which were SF/F, anyway.) I hope your reading for June is just as or even more successful πŸ™‚

  6. I am definitely up to rejoining Wyrd & Wonder next year:)). As I’ve still got a LOT going on here, I’ve decided to take it really easy with the blog and just enjoy entirely pressure-free reading. I also loved Luminous Deep – and I also had a slew of other 10/10 during May, which a golden reading month for me. Here’s hoping June is a good one!
