Twelve Books I Meant to Read in 2023 But Didn’t

I’m linking up with Top Ten Tuesday. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Check out upcoming Top Ten themes on Jana’s blog!

Today we’re doing the walk of shame and sharing the books we wanted to read last year but didn’t. In my case, these are all review books that for whatever reason I just couldn’t get to, and yes, I feel pretty bad about that. Still, I guess it’s possible to catch up with these in 2024, so maybe I can knock a few off this list. Here are my biggest regrets, in alphabetical order:

Have you read any of these books? Which one should I read first?

  1. I see at least 4 here I would like to get to including Dead Take the A Train, Gothic, Court of Shadows and Find Him Where You Left Him Dead – a title I can never get right now matter how many times I say it. It’s a never-ending game of catch up right?

  2. I refuse to feel shame over unread books! 🙂 Not like you didn’t read plenty in 2023… just not these. I haven’t read any of yours, but I considered the Jim Butcher (except that would require a reread of the first in the series, and I’m just not up for it). Good luck if you decide to try to catch up!

  3. I tried to read Jinn-Bot a few weeks ago but ended up DNFing it since it wasn’t really grabbing me. Hopefully it will work better for you!

I also plan to read The Court of Shadows eventually. Not a lot of translated SFF out there so I’m curious! I’m also interested in Chaos Terminal but I have to read book 1 first.

  4. Oooh see this is my relationship with every book I own! Of these, I have read Rubicon (loved), Chaos Terminal (loved), and Find Him Where You Left Him Dead (good). I also really want to read Rouge and Red Rabbit , and probably The Dead Take a Train and maybe The Jinn-Bot of Shantiport. If you end up liking it, basically hah. Hope you do get a chance to read these soon, and that they end up being worth the wait!
