Ten Recent Additions to My TBR

I’m linking up with Top Ten Tuesday. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Check out upcoming Top Ten themes on Jana’s blog!

Today’s prompt is actually “ten recent additions to my bookshelf,” but instead I’m looking at books I recently added to my Goodreads TBR. These are books I’m curious about but won’t necessarily read, but I wanted to share them anyway in case they look good to someone else. This is a very mixed bag, so you’ll see genres I don’t always read on this list. These are in no particular order, and I’ve linked the titles to Goodreads:

Saint Elspeth by Wick Welker is a small press/self published (?) book I saw reviewed on The Shades of Orange, and it was one of her top books of the year. This is a post apocalyptic story that sounds really good!

Joe Hustle by Richard Lange. I absolutely loved Lange’s Rovers a couple of years ago, and even though this is a completely different genre, I’m tempted simply because he’s such a good writer.

Dissolution by W. Michael Gear. Color me shocked when I ran across this Gear series that completely escaped my notice! I’m a huge fan of the author’s Donovan Trilogy, and I may need to track down a copy and read this!

The Deading by Nicholas Belardes. I don’t remember where I saw this, maybe on Instagram. I loved the cover so of course I added it to my list, and the story sounds good too.

Midnight by Amy McCulloch. This sounds like it could be a fun thriller, which takes place in Antarctica. I believe this comes out next month, so perfect timing for a story set in a wintery location.

A Sweet Sting of Salt by Rose Sutherland. I saw this on Mogsy’s blog and thought it sounded really good. The blurb is very vague, but sometimes that’s best:-)

The Eyes Are the Best Part by Monika Kim. I love the title and the cover! This sounds very strange and right up my alley. Kim is a second generation Korean American, and I may have to check this out.

If Something Happens to Me by Alex Finlay. I have never read Alex Finlay before, so I’d love to try his upcoming book. This sounds like an excellent thriller!

Dead Things Are Closer Than They Appear by Robin Wasley. This is a YA fantasy that has some Buffy vibes, and I’m very curious. Plus the cover and title are really calling to me…

Lie Until It’s True by Jessie Weaver. This is a YA thriller/supernatural story that actually sounds really good. The blurb suggests there is a lot going on, but I may check this one out!

Do any of these sound good to you?

  1. Wow, that cover for The Deading really is fascinating. I keep wanting to look closer to see more. And speaking of covers that really catch one’s attention, along with titles, The Eyes Are the Best Part leaves me with a sense of curiosity mixed with some serious unease. 🙂

  2. From what you said its not just me that adds books to their TBR that they’re in two minds about reading then I hope you enjoy any of these that you do pick up. I have the Buffy-esque one on my TBR but I’m kind of torn over it (I’m not sure why, maybe the last similar style book i read) and Midnight.
