Over-Booked [185] – A Book Haul Post

Welcome to Over-Booked, where I share my latest and greatest book acquisitions! There is a new blog hosting Stacking the Shelves, so do check out Reading Reality for more information!

Just a couple of new books arrived in the past two weeks. I’m definitely slowing down on requests and acceptances, since the end of the year is coming and I’d love to catch up a bit. Here are the latest arrivals to my mailbox and Kindle:

Books in the mail for review:

Huge thanks to Angry Robot for copies of R.W.W. Greene’s Mercury Rising and Earth Retrograde. I read Mercury Rising last year and loved it, and Earth Retrograde is the follow-up, which I have slated to read and review for SciFiMonth. I love Greene’s writing style and characters, and I’m anxious to see where the new book goes.

I’m very excited to have a copy of The Frame-Up by Gwenda Bond, with thanks to Del Rey Books! This is a magical heist story with lots of humor and comes out next February.

Finally, with thanks to Poisoned Pen Press, I’m really looking forward to reading My Darling Dreadful Thing by Johanna van Veen. This sounds like a really good murder mystery with ghosts, and I love this cover!

Digital books for review:

Just two NetGalley books today, and both are vampire stories! See, I just can’t leave October behind;-)

Big thanks to Del Rey for approving my request for Immortal Pleasures by V. Castro. I’m looking forward to this “seductive dark fantasy.”

I was also offered a copy of Thirst by Marina Yuszczuk. This sounds really good, and at first glance reminds me of Interview With the Vampire, although I have no idea why I’m getting those vibes, lol. Big thanks to Dutton for the review copy!

Are you planning on reading any of these books?

  1. I picked up Earth Retrograde without realizing I somehow didn’t actually read Mercury Rising, lol, so I await your opinion on whether I need to read both or not.

I would definitely read them in order. I’ve even forgotten stuff from Mercury Rising and I need to reset my brain, lol.

  2. All these books look new to me, so as always I’ll be curious to learn more about them, and hope you thoroughly enjoy those you get to. πŸ™‚

  3. Oh my gosh! I’m so jealous of your physical copy of the new Gwenda Bond book! She is one of my favorite authors but I haven’t gotten physical ARCs of hers since some of her first YA books. I do have the e-galley though, couldn’t pass it up! Hope you enjoy all your new books, and will be waiting to read the reviews!

I was very surprised to be offered the ARC of The Frame-Up, I never get physical copies from Del Rey. But I’m not complaining!
