Welcome to Over-Booked, where I share my latest and greatest book acquisitions! There is a new blog hosting Stacking the Shelves, so do check out Reading Reality for more information!
I received some exciting books in the last two weeks, including some 2024 releases I can’t wait to read! Plus, just a couple of digital ARCs this week, as I’m cutting way back on NetGalley requests.
Book mail for review:
Huge thanks to Angry Robot for this lovely ARC of Evocation by S.T. Gibson. I’m so excited to start her new series, and even though this doesn’t come out until next May. This is one book I hope to read early!
I’m so grateful to have been offered an ARC of Emily Wilde’s Map of the Otherlands, with big thanks to Del Rey. I’m not the only reader who loved Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries, and I can’t wait to see what Heather Fawcett does with the sequel.
It’s always exciting to see what Christina Henry will do, and her upcoming Good Girls Don’t Die sounds different from her other books. This comes out in November, so look for a review soon! Thank you Berkley!
With thanks to Tordotcom for an ARC of A Season of Monstrous Conceptions by Lina Rather. I reviewed this earlier in the week and really enjoyed it!
Finally, big thanks to Orbit for a copy of Tonight, I Burn by Katharine J. Adams. This also comes out in November, and it’s a witchy fantasy with a queer romance, and I’m very excited to check it out.
Digital books for review:
With thanks to David Walton, Memory Reborn is the third book in his fun SF dinosaur series. You can check out my reviews of the first two books: Living Memory and Deadly Memory. The cover of this third book is fascinating and creepy at the same time, lol. I can’t wait to see how Walton wraps things up!
I also downloaded The Ghosts of Beatrice Bird by Louisa Morgan, although I’m hoping to request a physical copy as well. But I can’t risk not reading the latest Louisa Morgan book, she’s one of my favorite authors:-)
None of these are on my immediate TBR but I’m sure they will be once I read your reviews 😛
I will try to convince you:-)
Definitely looking forward to your thoughts on the next Emily Wilde book (and perhaps by then I’ll have read the first!). 😀
Oh yes, read the first Emily Wilde book, I think you’d love it.
After your review, A Season of Monstrous Conceptions is on my list. I’d not been aware of it, so thanks much!
Sure! I hope you enjoy it:-)
I’m very curious about TS Gibson’s Evocation: having enjoyed A Dowry of Blood I’m more than eager to sample this author’s latest work. Keeping my fingers crossed that I might get the e-ARC… 😉

I have faith that Evocation is going to be just as good as A Dowry of Blood:-)
Some interesting reads! Enjoy! 🙂

Me too, I really loved the first book.
How many interesting books!! I am particularly curious about Evocation and Emily Wilde!!
I have high hopes for both:-)
You are so lucky to have the Map of the Otherland!!!
I do feel lucky, it was an unexpected offer:-)
Ahh, the Emily Wilde book – definitely excited about that.
And I have a copy of the Morgan book which I’m really looking forward to.
Lynn 😀
I’m beyond excited to start Louisa Morgan’s book:-)
I’m so looking forward to Memory Reborn! I’m doing audio again though so I have a little longer to wait for the files to be ready, arrgh.
I’m curious to see how he wraps up the series:-)
What a great haul! I’m really excited for that new Christina Henry book. I got denied on Netgalley but will definitely snag a copy when it comes out.
Sorry about the denial, I do hope it’s good.
Quite intriguing cover indeed for Memory Reborn! Enjoy!

It’s a great cover, a little creepy though:-)
Well, you know I already read the Monstrous Conceptions novella. But I’m eagerly awaiting my Evocation mail and I do want to read the next Emily Wilde book. Tonight, I Burn is technically on my TBR, but sadly I don’t think I’ll get around to it.
