Buffy’s Corner 10/15/23 – Looking at the Week Ahead

Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D

I just joined Bluesky, thanks to a tweet from author Chris Panatier (yes, I see the irony of that sentence), who offered an invite code. If anyone else is there, please follow me (and I’ll follow you back!), I’m @booksbonesbuffy.bsky.social. Honestly, it looks very similar to the old Twitter. If all the good folks who were on Twitter switched over, it would be so nice:-) I’m not sure how you get an invite code, other than to keep your eyes open, but I hope to see you there!

One of these days my hubby is going to take some new animal photos, but in the meantime, below is another Badger photo. He seems to think he owns every chair, couch and bed in the house, lol. Have a good week, everyone!

Upcoming reads & reviews:

I just finished The Daughters of Block Island and loved it. If you love the feel of vintage gothic stories like Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, Northanger Abbey or The Woman in White, you’d probably enjoy this book as well. Watch for my review tomorrow! I’m also hoping to review A Season of Monstrous Conceptions this week, and maybe even a third review, we’ll see what happens. My next reads will probably be These Burning Stars and My Darling Girl.

Other posts this week:

Top Ten Tuesday this week is Books with Weather Events on the cover; Wednesday stop by for some new cover reveals on Future Fiction; and I might pull together a book haul post on Saturday.

In case you missed:

My posts from last week:

Bloom by Delilah S. Dawson – Review 3/5 stars

Creatures of the Night Book Tag

Future Fiction #248

Dreambound by Dan Frey – Review 5/5 stars

  1. I’d not heard of Bluesky, but I hope it ends up being something you’ll enjoy interacting on. Badger’s chair looks like an interesting little reading nook. Not sure I’d seen something like that before. I hope you have a great week, Tammy!

The chair is “my” chair (my favorite piece of furniture) so this is probably the last picture of Badger sitting in it, lol. Have a good week, Todd!

  2. Pictures of Badger are always welcome! lol. I haven’t even heard of BlueSky till now. I have tried leaping over to some of the new social media sites that are supposed to replace Twitter, but find myself not keeping up with them. I barely use Twitter anymore either though, so it makes sense. My old self is on Facebook the most, followed by TikTok and Instagram. Have a great week!

Instagram is my favorite social media site right now, but I’m hoping to dive into Bluesky once I figure it out:-)

  3. I finished A SEASON OF MONSTROUS CONCEPTIONS yesterday & wrote my review this morning. It’ll be on my blog later this week. I thought it was another solid novella from the Tordotcom crew. I’ll keep an eye out for your thoughts, too!

  4. I think this might be the first I’ve heard of Bluesky. Hope it works out. And I’m enjoying the photos of Badger in the meantime. 🙂

  5. Just followed you over on Bluesky. It’s very early days but I think it might be quite good over there once I get the hang of how it all works 😀
The Daughters of Block Island sounds like one I would enjoy I think. I’m looking forward to your review.

Me too, I’m still trying to figure out what you can do on Bluesky, and it seems to have limited features at the moment.

  6. Badger is going to get away with everything – that’s my prediction.
I’m on Bluesky but not really doing much over that just yet. I need to become more familiar.
    Lynn 😀
