I did this tag two years ago, so I think it’s time for an update!
I found this tag on Maddalena’s blog, and I thought October would be the perfect time to jump in. I’m doing a slight twist and that is I’m listing two books for each prompt—a book I’ve read and loved, and a book that’s still on my TBR. Here we go!
Read: A Dowry of Blood by S.T. Gibson. An unusual family of vampires lives and loves together in this lush, emotional horror story.
Want to read: Immortal Pleasures by V. Castro. I’m hoping to finally read V. Castro, and this seems like a good place to start.
Want to read: Bride by Ali Hazelwood. STEM romance author Hazelwood takes on vampires and werewolves in this upcoming fantasy romance. Sounds like fun!
Read: This Delicious Death by Kayla Cottingham. Technically this story is about cannibals, but it’s the closest I could find to zombies.
Want to read: The Undermining of Twyla and Frank by Megan Bannen. The first book in the series had zombies, so I’m assuming this one does too? Not sure, but in any case it should be a fun read.
Read: The September House by Carissa Orlando. This is one of the happiest surprises of the year, and it’s definitely a contender for my Top Five Books of 2023.
Want to read: The Ghosts of Beatrice Bird by Louisa Morgan. I’m beyond excited to read Louisa Morgan’s upcoming book, she’s such a wonderful writer:-)
Read: Our Crooked Hearts by Melissa Albert. I read this last year and absolutely loved it! I can’t wait to read her next book.
Want to read: A Witch’s Guide to Magical Innkeeping by Sangu Mandanna. I’ve heard so many good things about this author, I’m excited to read this book which is coming out next year.
Read: Dreambound by Dan Frey. I just reviewed this and LOVED it. It’s such an unexpected and well written story about the fairy realm.
Read: Boys in the Valley by Philip Fracassi. This demon possession story was both emotional and gory, such a great combo!
Want to read: Rouge by Mona Awad. This is already out but I haven’t had time to read it yet. I’m not 100% certain there’s a demon involved, but let’s go with it:-)
Read: Infinity Gate by M.R. Carey. This is the start to an epic SF duology, and I had so much fun with it. Carey’s multiverse is full of interesting aliens.
Want to read: Chaos Terminal by Mur Lafferty. Lafferty’s space opera series is a lot of fun, and yes, there are so many different, cool alien species.
Read: A Sh*tload of Crazy Powers by Jackson Ford. This is book #4 in one of my favorite series, which features a girl who can move shit with her mind.
Want to read: The Hunting Moon by Susan Dennard. This series is about a group of monster hunters call Luminaries, and while they might not technically be “superpowered,” I feel like it’s a good book for this spot.
Do you want to join in too? Let me know if you do this tag so I can visit you:-D

Great tag for spooky season 😀 There are some here I’d like to read too – Bride, Emily Wilde, and A Witch’s Guide to Magical Innkeeping all sound really good.

There are some good “creature” books coming out for sure:-)
I’m glad you were inspired to tackle this wonderful tag, the only negative side being that now I have another list of intriguing books to be added to my TBR… 😉
Thanks for sharing!

Such is the danger of book tags;-)
What a fun tag! I don’t know how I didn’t realize Bride feature werewolves too. There’s even one on the cover!
I’m so curious about Bride, I guess I should request it:-)
Ooh. My want list just grew!!!!!

I hope you get the chance to read some of them!
I am very curious to see how Ali Hazelwood goes from STEM to Paranormal.

Me too!
Really fun tag! Definitely taking notes on zombie books, a few years ago it felt like zombie books were everywhere but the trend seems to have died down now.
I had a hard time finding zombie books for this tag! I guess eventually they’ll cycle back again:-)
This is such a fun tag! I’m gonna try to squeeze it in this month too. Out of these I’ve only read A Dowry of Blood and I loved it so much. I need to get myself a physical copy of it!

Oh good, I’m glad you’re thinking of doing it!
I just finished The September House, and though it didn’t work as well for me as it did for you, I did still enjoy it.
I’m glad you enjoyed it, even though it sounds like it wasn’t a favorite:-)
This is a fun tag. Love all of your answers. Maybe I’ll do this one later…it doesn’t seem like it’d take a while to do lol.
I made it harder by doing two books for each prompt, but otherwise it’s fun and easy:-)
I can’t believe I still haven’t read Emily Wilde or Our Crooked Hearts this looks like a fun tag. I hope all the books on your TBR live up to your expectations
Thanks Charlotte!
I like how you did this. Lots of recommendations!
Great tag. Some books on here that I have my eye on too. Yeah, zombies, they seemed to be everywhere at one point – I think we had a bit of an over saturations problem and now they’ve virtually disappeared.
