Buffy’s Corner 8/13/23 – Looking at the Week Ahead

Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D

This was a crazy busy work week for me, so I was so grateful to make it to the weekend! We’re having lovely weather in the mountains, it’s been in the 60s and 70s, believe it or not, and we even got a little rain this past week. My hubby and I have been working on our garden and it’s shaping up nicely. Hopefully next weekend I can share some photos:-)

Upcoming reads & reviews:

I would like an extra week in August, is that possible? Then maybe I could get through most of my August TBR, lol. This week I’ll be reviewing Looking Glass Sound (very good but also confusing) and Vampires of El Norte (historical horror that takes place in Mexico), and my next two books will probably be Mister Magic and Whalefall.

Other posts this week:

There were a ton of cover reveals this past week, so it was easy to put together my Future Fiction post for Wednesday, don’t miss it! I’ll probably do The Friday Face-Off again this Friday, I just need to settle on a book.

In case you missed:

My posts from last week:

The Friday Face-Off: Delicate Condition

Delicate Condition by Danielle Valentine – Review 5/5 stars

Future Fiction #239

Wildwood Magic by Willa Reece – Review 4/5 stars

  1. We’re having similarly lovely, cool weather (for the next week lol), and I’ve already skipped ahead to my October books so… maybe just do that? August can end itself I’m sure. It’ll be fiiiiine. Everything will be fiiiine;)

September and October are really busy review months for me too, so I may as well give up trying to catch up, lol.

We have to pick our plants carefully, they have to survive in very cold winters. It will be interesting to see how they do after next winter.

  2. I’m very glad to hear you two have been working on your garden, and I look forward to seeing any photos. Also glad to hear about the weather. We’ve had a few nice days mixed in between the hot and stormy ones. As for books, I’m really curious about both Mister Magic and Whalefall. And another great photo by Moses. I love how the tanager looks against the background in this one.

  3. I could use more August too — I feel like I’m way behind on all my books (and everything else!!) this month. Nice to hear you’ve had great weather! It’s just fog, fog, fog where I am. 🙂 Have a great week!

  4. Nice temps your having! We are either in the 80’s or 90’s or it’s raining and I am so tired of rain and storms! I need to mow my lawn! That bird pic is so pretty!

Have a great day and happy reading!

  5. I’m currently trying to get ahead with my review books and this week managed to fit in three so was pleased. Although I still need to review them.
Delicate Condition is my next read and I’m looking forward to it.
Can’t wait to see your garden photos.
    Lynn 😀

  6. I received an eARC of “Whalefall,” too; it seems darker than the tale of “Jonah and the Whale.” You’ll read it before I do, so I’ll keep an eye out for your review.

  7. I really need for August to be done, because I have holiday in September and I really need them!! It would be amazing if I could take out one week from my August to give to you!!
And I’ll wait for the pics of your garden!! (yep, I am a nosy person!)

It’s hot until October where I used to live, so I know exactly what you’re going through…

  8. I agree about wanting an extra week in August, preferably right in the middle so I have more time to finish HE WHO DROWNED THE WORLD by Shelley Parker-Chan. I, uh, mood read a bit at the start of the month and am “paying for it” now. Hehe.
