Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
Happy 4th of July weekend to all my American friends! I have a long weekend, which is always welcome. My hubby comes back from Africa later today, but in the meantime I’m posting one of his photos below. I hope to have more to share next week.
Upcoming reads & reviews:
I have a lot to read this month so there’s no time to waste! My review for Boys in the Valley will be up tomorrow. Is historical slasher/demonic possession fiction a genre? If not it should be! I’m currently reading Burn the Negative and really having fun with it. After that, I’ll probably read Dead of Winter and The Deep Sky.
Other posts this week:
On Tuesday, I’ll share my Third Quarter Most Anticipated books; Wednesday is my usual Future Fiction; Thursday I’m thrilled to be hosting a cover reveal! But it’s a secret so you’ll just have to stop by to see what it is;-) And Saturday look for my latest book haul.
In case you missed:
My posts from last week:
What’s On My Plate – July 2023
Gods of the Wyrdwood by R.J. Barker – Review 4.5/5 stars
Most Anticipated Books for the Second Half of 2023
Mothtown by Caroline Hardaker – Review 4/5 stars
If it’s not a genre then historical slasher/demonic possession needs to be a genre ASAP. Can’t wait to read your review!

I think the author created that genre, lol.
Oh my goodness, that picture is so cool!!! Thanks for sharing! The Dead of Winter book actually is making me ready for cold weather, lol. Have a great 4th!
Hmm, it said my site was offline when I tried to post my comment. Testing to see if it will work this time.

I got both comments, Lisa!
Thanks Lisa! It’s hot here so I’m looking forward to a snowy read:-)
Fabulous photo… and now you have me in suspense about the cover reveal!! Happy 4th — wishing you a great week!
Thanks Lisa, I hope you have a good week too:-)
I always wanted to go to Africa! I should have gone when I was young because now I am too worried about the various political factions and conditions. Love the photo! Enjoy your holiday weekend!

I think it depends on where you go. My husband didn’t have any trouble, he was on a formal safari trip and they really take care of everyone and especially guard them against the animals.
Cool pic! Glad your enjoying Burn the Negative, that book bored me so much…lol. Not really one likable character…lol.

I just finished Burn the Negative and I totally see why you didn’t like the characters, lol. I still need to figure out how I feel, but I did like a lot of things about the story.
Looking forward to African birds!

I’ve seen some of the bird photos and they are very cool:-)
AHHH I love that photo and can’t wait to see more if you share them. Good luck getting through all you need to read this month and happy reading!

Thanks Kal! I’m also excited to see my hubby’s other photos, once he gets over his jet lag;-)
I hope you enjoyed, “The Deep Sky” as much as I did. And, I’m dying to read a galley of “Boys in the Valley”! It sounds like a very promising addition to the Dark Academia subgenre!
I hope to start The Deep Sky later this week:-)
Wow – those baboons! That’s amazing.

Isn’t that a great photo?
I just love the cover of The Deep Sky. I think I put it on my TBR, but regardless I have a bunch of other stuff to read first. Like August ARCs. 😛

I love the cover too. And good luck with your August ARCs, I’m still working on July, lol.
The Dead of Winter sounds like one that would be good for my Readers Imbibing Peril TBR list. Looking forward to your thoughts on it 😀
I’m starting Dead of Winter today!
Happy Fourth of July! I bet your husband had an amazing trip!
Thanks Sophie, he did!
So many baboons!!! I can’t wait to see more of what he’s got if you do share them with us, Tammy. Happy reading! 😀

Wow, what a fantastic photo.
I must go back to your review for Wyrd Wood. I’ve got the audio for that one and will be starting in a week or so – currently listening to the Ferryman which is another quite hefty book.
