Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
I hope everyone had a nice week! In lieu of one of my husband’s photos (he doesn’t have anything new to share right now), I took a walk around our neighborhood and snapped a few pictures of our beautiful Spring surroundings. We are obsessed with forsythia right now, it’s blooming everywhere, and we’ve even ordered a couple of forsythia plants from our local nursery so we can have our own.
Upcoming reads & reviews:
It’s been a very weird reading week in that my reads have been very weird. And I’m not complaining, but I am looking forward to reading something more traditional next, lol. The Salt Grows Heavy offers up some very disturbing body horror, written in absolutely gorgeous prose. Look for my review on Tuesday. And The Thick and the Lean is such a cool concept, although I thought the middle dragged a bit. I’ll post my review later in the week. Up next, two early May releases, The Ferryman and Fourth Wing.
Other posts this week:
Monday is May 1st, so I’ll share What’s On My Plate; there were a few exciting cover reveals this past week, so stop by on Wednesday to see them on Future Fiction.
In case you missed:
My posts from last week:
October Animals by Nicholas Day – Review 2.5/5 stars
Pomegranates by Priya Sharma – Review 4/5 stars
The Fairy Bargains of Prospect Hill by Rowenna Miller – Review 4/5 stars
Forsythia is always the first one to bloom so when I see those bright yellow bushes I know that winter is finally over… 🙂
I’ve never seen forsythia before, so I’m glad I live in an area where it grows well, it’s such a happy plant:-)
The pics are so beautiful!! And so Springy!!
Thanks Susy!
Yay for spring flowers and not snow, right?! 🙂 Those are pretty!
Hope you have a great week and happy reading!

Thanks Stormi, definitely a big “yay” for no snow;-)
Lovely spring pictures! I’m looking forward to your reviews of The Ferryman and Fourth Wing, especially since Fourth Wing has had so many glowing reviews on Goodreads.
It really does! I’m hoping they are all correct, lol.
I thought The Thick and the Lean looked very interesting but I could see it being hit or miss for me. I look forward to reading your thoughts on it. And thanks for sharing the photos. I love the look of that road through the trees, and I can see why you’re drawn to the forsythia.
The Thick and the Lean is good, I just need to finish it and formulate my thoughts:-)
The new Harrow has me intrigued. Still haven’t tried her yet. And you took some great photos! Hope you’re having a great weekend 🙂

Thanks Greg! So far so good:-)
Great photos! Looking forward to your review of The Thick & the Lean. Have a good week!
Thanks Lisa, you too!
I like that you got out in your new neighborhood. I love seeing the photos. Azaleas are big here. My Hellebores and some camellia bloom in January -February even when it is cold. I love having lots of plants.

We’re loving all the different trees here, now that the snow is gone we can actually see them. And we’re so happy to see we already have some kind of cherry/plum tree in our yard (not sure yet) as well as a maple tree:-)
As always I’m looking forward to your posts next week! 😀 I didn’t know what Forsythia was when you mentioned it but lovely to see it on your picture. Very beautiful!

I didn’t know what forsythia was either, but it grows well at this altitude so I’m very happy:-)
Ooo, keeping an eye out for your thoughts on Fourth Wing!
I can’t wait to start it!
I just got a notification that my copy of The Ferryman has shipped. I’m looking forward to that and The Salt Grows Heavy. I just got a copy of Pomegranates so I’m glad to see you enjoyed it. 🙂

The Ferryman is so good so far! I’m probably going to need a physical copy as well:-)
Ha, it seems like everyone has FOURTH WING on their list! I pre-ordered the B&N special edition. I hope it’s as good as all the buzz promises.
I’ve seen lots of bloggers reading Fourth Wing too. I need to start it soon!
Looking forward to your review of The Salt Grows Heavy! Actually, I’m looking forward to your reviews for all of these, haha! Gorgeous photos, it is looking beautiful out there. Your forest road just looks like something out of a dream. 🙂 Have a wonderful week!
Thanks Jordan, you too!
What lovely photos, and a nice difference from all that snow you had 😀
Looking forward to your thoughts on the new Cronin. I never went back and finished The Passage books but perhaps I’ll get around to it at some point.
Thank you! The Ferryman is quite different from The Passage, but I’m enjoying it:-)
Well I love forsythia too! They are such spring flowers that i always makes me feel happy when I see them!
I think yellow flowers are my favorite:-)
Your pictures are lovely. I used to have a Forsythia in my last house, a lovely Spring flowerer. I seem to remember it flowers on new growth so you do need to cut it back after it finishes flowering – I could be misremembering that though.
Look forward to your review for The Salt Grows Heavy – although it sounds a bit ‘eek’.
I’m also looking forward to seeing what you think of the Cronin. That’s a book I’ll be picking up soon.
Lynn 😀

Right after all the forsythia in town bloomed, we got a surprise snow storm, I hope it didn’t kill them all off!
I love what your corner of the world is looking like right now! All we got is rain every day this week. I hope you have a fantastic month of May, Tammy! 😀
Thanks Lashaan!
The Thick and the Lean was DEFINITELY weird. I loved the beginning, but I’m with you on that the middle dragged. By the end I also thought a couple of the character storylines went off the rails, didn’t do a good job of tying back to the themes at all.
I just wrote my review for The Thick and the Lean, and I definitely agree with you!
